The 2012 Australian Manufacturers' Championship was a CAMS sanctioned Australian motor racing championship for modified production touring cars. [1] The Manufacturers Championship was determined by a series pointscore for the manufacturers of the competing vehicles although the manufacturers themselves did not directly compete. The series also incorporated the 2012 Australian Production Car Championship, the 2012 Australian Production Car Endurance Championship and the 2012 Australian Endurance Championship, each of which was a drivers' title. The 2012 Australian Manufacturers' Championship was the 27th manufacturers title to be awarded by CAMS and the 18th to be contested under the Australian Manufacturers' Championship name.

There was little change from the 2011 class structure, although one new class, Class F for Hybrid/Alternative Energy vehicles was included. Despite its name however, the only eligible vehicles were existing diesel powered cars which had been moved from other classes into the new class.

Each manufacturer could score class points towards the Australian Manufacturers' Championship title from the two highest placed automobiles of its make, in any class (excluding Class I). [1] The title was awarded to the manufacturer that scores the highest total number of class points over all rounds of the championship. [1]
Points towards the Australian Production Car Championship outright title were awarded to drivers based on outright finishing positions attained in each race. [1] Points were awarded using the same two scales as used for the Australian Manufacturers' Championship with the addition of two points for the driver setting the fastest qualifying lap in each class at each round. [1]

The championship, which was promoted as the 1994 Valvoline Australian Manufacturers' Championship, began on 17 April 1994 at Eastern Creek Raceway and ended on 28 August at Oran Park Raceway after six rounds. The series determined both the winning automobile manufacturer in the 22nd Australian Manufacturers' Championship and the winning driver in the second annual Australian title for drivers of Class II Touring Cars. It was staged on 18 July 2010 at the Eastern Creek International Raceway in New South Wales, Australia and was Round 4 of both the 2010 Australian Manufacturers' Championship and the 2010 Australian Production Car Championship. The race was won by Stuart Kostera and Warren Luff at the wheel of a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, leading a 1–2–3–4 for the manufacturer. Kostera and Luff won by two laps ahead of Ian Tulloch and Steve Jones, with Peter Conroy and Mark Brame finishing a further lap down in third place.
The 2011 Dial Before You Dig Australian Manufacturers' Championship 500 was an endurance motor race for production cars. It was held on 10 and 11 September 2011, at Sandown Raceway in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It was Round 4 of the 2011 Australian Manufacturers' Championship, Round 4 of the 2011 Australian Production Car Championship and Round 2 of the 2011 Australian Production Car Endurance Championship. The race was won by Stuart Kostera and Ian Tulloch, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. The Lancer Evolution 9 of Tony Quinn and Klark Quinn finished in second place with another Lancer Evolution 9 in third, driven by Jim Pollicina and Dean Kelland.

The race was originally to be run over an eight-hour duration, but this was reduced to six hours shortly before the event was run.

The race was Round 2 of the 2012 Australian Manufacturers' Championship, Round 2 of the 2012 Australian Production Car Championship, Round 1 of the 2012 Australian Endurance Championship and Round 1 of the 2012 Australian Production Car Endurance Championship. It was the second annual Phillip Island 6 Hour race to be held at the Victorian circuit.
