The draw for the group stage was held at the PT. Liga Indonesia house in Jakarta, Indonesia on 23 March 2012. [1] Round I of first stage started 2 April 2012 to ended on 25 April 2012 and round II started 9 May 2012 to ended on 24 May 2012. [2]
In each group, teams play each other home-and-away in a round-robin format, but all the match was held at the same stadium with a home tournament. The winners and runners-up of each group advance to the second stage.

The 2005 Liga Indonesia Premier Division was the 11th season of the Liga Indonesia Premier Division, the top Indonesian professional league for association football clubs.
The 2010 Piala Indonesia was the fifth edition of Piala Indonesia, the nationwide football cup tournament in Indonesia, involving professional clubs from Indonesia Super League, Premier Division and First Division. Sriwijaya FC was the tournament's defending champions. The winner of the tournament qualified to play for 2011 AFC Champions League qualification. RCTI was appointed as the official TV broadcaster for this tournament.

The 2023–24 Liga 2 (Indonesia) was the seventh edition of the Liga 2 under its current name and the 14th edition under its current league structure. PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) are responsible for administrating the league. Plans to change Liga 2's operator were shelved for this season and will be postponed to at least the 2024–2025 season.
