The 2012 Kyoto mayoral election was held on February 5, 2012. The incumbent mayor Daisaku Kadokawa won over a candidate backed by the JCP with a margin of 31,794 votes. It was considered that his first term was generally appreciated by the voters. [1]

Yuko Sato is a Japanese politician and member of the Genzei Nippon party. She previously served one term in the House of Representatives of Japan's national Diet and currently serves on the Nagoya city council in Aichi Prefecture.
Akihiro Ota is a Japanese politician of the Komeito Party, currently serving his seventh term in the House of Representatives in the National Diet. Ota has represented three districts within the Tokyo metropolis since first entering the national Diet in 1993. He served as chief representative of the Komeito Party from 2006 until the general election in September 2009, at which time he lost his seat in the Diet. Upon his return to the House in December 2012, Ota was appointed as the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, a post he held until October 2015.
Ai Aoki is a Japanese politician and current member of the People's Life Party. She is a native of Tokyo and graduate of Chiba University. After a career in education, Aoki entered politics in 2003 and has served a total of four terms in the national Diet of Japan, having sat in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2005 and 2009–2014, and a partial term in the House of Councillors from 2007 to 2009. Aoki was returned to the House of Councillors in the election held on 10 July 2016.

Kumamoto 4th District is a current single-member electoral district for the House of Representatives, the lower house of the National Diet of Japan. It is located in Kumamoto and since 2017 covers roughly the Southern half of Kumamoto.
Yamaguchi 1st district is a single-member electoral district for the House of Representatives, the lower house of the National Diet of Japan. It is located in Yamaguchi and covers the prefectural capital Yamaguchi and the cities of Hōfu and Ube. In September 2023 the district had 388,682 eligible voters. In 2012 they were 359,151.
The Yamagata at-large district is a constituency that represents Yamagata Prefecture in the House of Councillors in the Diet of Japan. Councillors are elected to the house by single non-transferable vote (SNTV) for six-year terms. Since the establishment of the current House of Councillors electoral system in 1947, the district has elected two Councillors, one each at elections held every three years. It has 937,920 registered voters as of September 2015.

A by-election was held on 31 July 2016 to fill vacancies in four districts of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly. The elections were held simultaneously with the gubernatorial election. Nominations for the election were announced on 22 July 2016. Liberal Democratic Party candidates won all four elections.
Akimasa Suzuki is a Japanese politician who is the Mayor of Ōta, a Special ward of Tokyo, since April 2023. A former member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, Suzuki was chairman of the Special Committee on Budget and Chairman of the General Affairs Committee.
The 2016 Kyoto mayoral election was held on February 7, 2016. Incumbent mayor Daisaku Kadokawa ran for a third term, opposed by Independent and JCP politician Kumiko Honda and Independent Takashi Mikami. The total votes in the election were 398,988, a slight decrease in turnout compared to 2012. Kadokawa won by a wide margin compared to his 2012 election.
Toshiko Ono is a Japanese Politician who was the mayor of Izunokuni city for two terms, serving from 2013 to 2021. Her previous offices include the member of Shizuoka prefectural Assembly and the member of Nirayama municipality, which was abolished in 2005. She was also the first Female Mayor in the history of Shizuoka Prefecture. She retired from her political life in 2021, after losing her re-appointment election of Izunokuni city's mayor with huge differences between the current mayor of the city, Masayuki Yamashita.
