Northeast Conference college athletic conference

The Northeast Conference (NEC) is a collegiate athletic conference whose schools are members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Teams in the NEC compete in Division I for all sports except football, which competes in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision. Participating schools are located principally in the Northeastern United States.

Contents

The Quinnipiac Bobcats are the defending regular season champions, while the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights are the defending tournament champions. Quinnipiac will be unable to defend their NEC regular season title, since they are moving to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for 2013.

Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference U.S. college athletic conference

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated in NCAA Division I, consisting of eleven schools coming from three states of the northeastern United States: Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York.

Central Connecticut won the Regular Season Championship by going 6-1-0 in conference play and will host the NEC Tournament in New Britain, Connecticut. St. Francis Brooklyn won the 2013 NEC Tournament Championship with the 4th seed by beating Central Connecticut (2-0) then Bryant (3-2).

The St. Francis Terriers men's soccer team represents St. Francis College, which is located in Brooklyn Heights, New York. The team is a member of the Division I Northeast Conference (NEC). The Terriers play their home games at Brooklyn Bridge Park on Pier 5, which is also located in Brooklyn Heights. The field is located on the East River and has the Manhattan Skyline as a backdrop.

The 2014–15 St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers men's basketball team represented St. Francis College during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Terrier's home games were played at the Generoso Pope Athletic Complex. They also hosted one home game at Madison Square Garden, defeating Central Connecticut in the second game of a double header that saw St. John's defeat Marquette. The team has been a member of the Northeast Conference since 1981. St. Francis Brooklyn was coached by Glenn Braica, who was in his fifth year at the helm of the Terriers and has made the NEC Tournament each year.

The 2017–18 Fairleigh Dickinson Knights men's basketball team represented Fairleigh Dickinson University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by fifth-year head coach Greg Herenda. The Knights played their home games at the Rothman Center in Hackensack, New Jersey as members of the Northeast Conference. They finished the season 13–18, 9–9 in NEC play to finish in a tie for sixth place. They defeated Saint Francis (PA) in the quarterfinals of the NEC Tournament before losing in the semifinals to LIU Brooklyn.

2017–18 Saint Francis Red Flash mens basketball team

The 2017–18 Saint Francis Red Flash men's basketball team represented Saint Francis University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Red Flash, led by sixth-year head coach Rob Krimmel, played their home games at the DeGol Arena in Loretto, Pennsylvania as members of the Northeast Conference. They finished the season 18–13, 12–6 in NEC play to finish in a tie for second place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the NEC Tournament to Fairleigh Dickinson. They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they lost in the first round to UIC.

The 2017–18 Wagner Seahawks men's basketball team represents Wagner College during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Seahawks are led by sixth-year head coach Bashir Mason. They played their home games at Spiro Sports Center on the school's Staten Island campus as members of the Northeast Conference. The Seahwawks finished the season 23–10, 14–4 in NEC play to win the NEC regular season championship. In the NEC Tournament, they defeated Central Connecticut and Robert Morris before losing to LIU Brooklyn in the championship game. As a regular season conference champion who did not win their conference tournament, they received an invitation to the National Invitation Tournament where they lost in the first round to Baylor.

The three-match tournament took place at University Stadium in Teaneck, New Jersey, home of the regular season co-champions and tournament #1 seed Fairleigh Dickinson Knights. The four-team single-elimination tournament consisted of two rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending champions were the Saint Francis Red Flash and they successfully defended their title, winning the penalty shoot-out tiebreaking procedure following a tie with Fairleigh Dickinson in the final. This was the fourth Northeast Conference tournament title for the Saint Francis women's soccer program, all of which have come under the direction of head coach Brenda van Stralen.

The 2018 Northeast Conference Women's Soccer Tournament was the postseason women's soccer tournament for the Northeast Conference held on November 2 and 4, 2018. The three-match tournament took place at Central Connecticut Soccer Field in New Britain, Connecticut, home of the regular season champions and tournament #1 seed Central Connecticut State Blue Devils. The four-team single-elimination tournament consisted of two rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending champions were the Saint Francis Red Flash but they were unable to defend their title, losing 2–1 in the final to Central Connecticut. This was the ninth Northeast Conference tournament title for the Central Connecticut women's soccer program, seven of which have come under the direction of head coach Mick D'Arcy.
