The Australian Football League celebrates the best mark of the season through the annual Mark of the Year competition. In 2014, this is officially known as the Lifebroker AFL Mark of the Year. Each round three marks are nominated and fans are able to vote online for their favourite.

Brett Edward Deledio is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played 243 games over 12 seasons with the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL), and a further 32 matches over three seasons with the Greater Western Sydney Giants. He was a two-time All-Australian, two-time Richmond best and fairest winner and recipient of the league's Rising Star award in his debut year in 2005. Between 2013 and 2016, he served as Richmond's vice-captain. Deledio was drafted to Richmond with the number one overall pick in the 2004 AFL draft and made his debut in round 1 of the 2005 season.

Mark of the Year Australian Football League award

The annual Australian Football League Mark of the Year competition is a sporting award that celebrates each season's best mark. A mark is the action of a player cleanly catching a kicked ball that has travelled more than 15 metres (49 ft) without the ball hitting the ground.

Brad Johnson is a former Australian rules footballer who was the captain of Australian Football League team Western Bulldogs. Despite his small size for his position, he was considered to be one of the best forwards in the game because of his overhead marking ability, and he also had the ability to play across half forward or in the midfield.

Goal of the Year (AFL)

The Goal of the Year is a competition for the best goal kicked in the Australian Football League (AFL) during that season. It is run in conjunction with the Mark of the Year competition and is currently sponsored by Rebel Sport. The winner is awarded the Phil Manassa Medal. The concept of awards for the goal and mark of the year is thought to have been initiated in 1970, as an unofficial award given by the media to Alex Jesaulenko following his famous mark in that season's grand final. The official awards were first given in 2001. Eddie Betts has been awarded Goal of the Year on an unparalleled four occasions, the most of any player, and is the only player to win the award in consecutive seasons.

Thomas John Hawkins is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). At 198 cm tall and weighing 110 kilograms (240 lb), Hawkins has the ability to play as either a full-forward or centre half-forward. He grew up in New South Wales before moving to Victoria to attend Melbourne Grammar School, where his football abilities earned him a spot in the first XVIII in year ten. He played top-level football with the Sandringham Dragons in the TAC Cup and Vic Metro in the AFL Under-18 Championships. His accolades as a junior include national and state representation, the Larke Medal as the AFL Under-18 Championships most valuable player, and All-Australian selection.

Lance Franklin Australian rules footballer (born 1987)

Lance Franklin, also known as Buddy Franklin, is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played for the Hawthorn Football Club from 2005 to 2013. Regarded as the greatest forward of his generation and among the greatest players of all time, Franklin has kicked 1,023 goals, the most of any current player and the sixth-most in VFL/AFL history, and has been his clubs' leading goalkicker on twelve occasions, kicking at least 50 goals in each of those seasons. He has been selected in the All-Australian team on eight occasions, including as captain in the 2018 team, and has won four Coleman Medals throughout his career, with his biggest haul coming in 2008 with Hawthorn, when he kicked 113 goals.

He served as Gold Coast's co-captain in 2017 and 2018, is a premiership player, an All-Australian, a two-time Gold Coast club champion, four-time Gold Coast leading goalkicker and one-time Richmond leading goalkicker.

Jeremy Cameron Australian rules footballer

Jeremy Cameron is a professional footballer with the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played for the Greater Western Sydney Giants from 2012 to 2020. Cameron has kicked the most goals (427) for Greater Western Sydney, and led the club's goalkicking in all nine of his seasons at the club, with his 67 goals in the 2019 home-and-away season earning him the Coleman Medal. He is also a dual All-Australian and won the Kevin Sheedy Medal in 2013.
