The Bahia gubernatorial election was held on 5 October 2014 to elect the next governor of the state of Bahia. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, a second-round runoff election will be held on 26 October. [1] Governor Jaques Wagner is ineligible to run due to term limits (eight years). In a stunning upset, the PT nominee Rui Costa won the election with 54.5% of valid votes against 37.3% of Paulo Souto in the first-round. [2]

Rui Fernando da Silva Rio is a Portuguese economist and retired politician of the Social Democratic Party (PSD). He was the Mayor of Porto from 2002 to 2013. Between 2018 and 2022, he was President of the PSD and Leader of the Opposition.
General elections were held in Brazil on 6 October 2002, with a second round of the presidential election on 27 October. The elections were held in the midst of an economic crisis that began in the second term of the incumbent president, Fernando Henrique Cardoso of the centre-right Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB). Due to constitutional term limits, Cardoso was ineligible to run for a third consecutive term.

If no candidate had received more than 50% of the vote, a second-round runoff election would have been held on 26 October. Governor Roseana was ineligible to run due to term limits. Former Embratur President Dino, who lost to Sarney in 2010, won a landslide election against Senator Lobão Filho to become the sole Governor from one of the two Communist parties.

If no candidate had received more than 50% of the vote, a second-round runoff election would have been held on 26 October. Governor Silval Barbosa did not run for a second term. Senator Pedro Taques of the PDT won election to the open seat in the first round.

Rui Costa dos Santos is a Brazilian economist and politician who has served as the Chief of Staff of the Presidency since 1 January 2023. He previously served as governor of Bahia from January 2015 to December 2022. He is affiliated with the Workers' Party (PT).
Antônio Carlos Peixoto de Magalhães Neto, commonly known as ACM Neto, is a Brazilian lawyer and politician. He was the national president of the Democrats (DEM), and is currently general secretary of the Brazil Union. He is the grandson of deceased Senator and Governor of Bahia Antônio Carlos Magalhães (ACM), nephew of Luís Eduardo Magalhães and son of Antônio Carlos Magalhães Júnior, and political inheritor of one of the most powerful political families of the country. He was elected mayor of Salvador in 2012 and reelected in 2016. During both of his terms as mayor he was rated the most popular mayor in Brazil.
Patrus Ananias de Sousa is a Brazilian lawyer and politician, member of the Workers' Party (PT). He was Minister of Agrarian Development during the second term of president Dilma Rousseff.
The 2018 presidential campaign of Ciro Gomes was announced on 8 March 2018. At the Democratic Labour Party (PDT) convention on 20 July, Gomes was formally nominated as the party's presidential candidate. His running mate, Kátia Abreu, former Minister of Agriculture in Dilma Rousseff's government, was confirmed as his running mate on 5 August, on the last day of political parties conventions. Ciro Gomes' party formed the coalition Sovereign Brazil with AVANTE.
Raquel Teixeira Lyra Lucena is a Brazilian lawyer, politician and the current governor of Pernambuco since 2023. Lyra was mayor of Caruaru from 2017 to 2022. A member of a political family, she previously served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco. She is affiliated to the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB) but was a member of the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB).
Early legislative elections were held on 30 January 2022 in Portugal to elect members of the Assembly of the Republic to the 15th Legislature of the Third Portuguese Republic. All 230 seats to the Assembly of the Republic were up for election.
Local elections in Portugal were held on 26 September 2021. The election consisted of three separate elections in the 308 Portuguese municipalities: the election for the Municipal Chamber, whose winner is automatically elected mayor, similar to first-past-the-post (FPTP); another election for the Municipal Assembly ; and an election for the Parish Assembly, whose winner is elected parish president. This last one was held separately in the more than 3,000 parishes around the country. In the 2021 election, 12.3 percent of incumbent mayors, 38 to be precise, were barred from running for another term: 23 from the PS, 11 from the PSD, 3 from CDU and one from the CDS–PP.
Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Portugal on 25 January 2026, with a possible second round on 15 February 2026. The election will elect the successor to the Incumbent President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who is constitutionally barred from running for a third term.

Snap legislative elections were held on 10 March 2024 to elect members of the Assembly of the Republic to the 16th Legislature of Portugal. All 230 seats to the Assembly of the Republic were up for election. The elections were called in November 2023 after Prime Minister António Costa's resignation following an investigation around alleged corruption involving the award of contracts for lithium and hydrogen businesses.
The 2022 Bahia state election took place in the state of Bahia, Brazil on 2 October 2022. The elections saw voters choose a Governor and Vice Governor, one Senator, 39 representatives for the Chamber of Deputies, and 63 Legislative Assembly members. The incumbent Governor, Rui Costa, of the Workers' Party (PT), was not eligible for a third term since he ran for governor in 2014 and 2018. In a significant upset, PT nominee and Secretary of Education Jerônimo led Mayor of Salvador ACM Neto in the first round of elections despite the vast majority of registered opinion polls indicating the leadership or even outright victory of Neto. In the end, Jerônimo obtained 49.45% of valid votes to ACM's 40.8%; less than a percentage point within of winning the election in the first round. Nevertheless, as no candidate obtained a majority of the vote, there will be a second round election on October 30 2022.
Wagner Sousa Gomes, also known as Capitão Wagner is a captain of the Military Police Reserve of the State of Ceará and a Brazilian politician affiliated to Brazil Union (UNIÃO). He was a federal deputy in office from 2019 to 2023.
