The 2014 season is Global's 4th season in Division I in the United Football League (UFL) which is the Philippines premier league based in the National Capital Region.

This edition, the 2014 United Football League, introduces a longer format of competition that Division I teams will play their opponents three times during the season instead of two. [1] This also marks the debut season of their new head coach Leigh Manson after replacing Brian Reid. [2]

Manson has been coaching with the sport for 20 years, he has also played in numerous clubs like the Queen of the South and Gretna in Scotland and the Richmond Kickers in the United States. He also served as head coach of Global which then competed in the United Football League.

It was played on a multistage format that culminates in a knockout stage. Clubs that were eligible to compete for the cup were those who then played in the United Football League Division 1 and Division 2. On 18 August 2014, UFL officials announced that it will introduce a new tournament to its calendar for the 2014 - 2015 United Football League season.
