The 2014 Philippine Collegiate Championship was the seventh edition of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) in its current incarnation, the postseason tournament to determine the national collegiate champions in basketball organized by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), the national basketball federation. The San Beda Red Lions defeated defending champions De La Salle Green Archers in the best-of-three championship series, 2–0; meanwhile the UV Green Lancers defeated the USC Warriors in the third-place game, 63–60.

Ateneo Blue Eagles sports teams of Ateneo de Manila University

The Ateneo Blue Eagles are the collegiate men's varsity teams of the Ateneo de Manila University that play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the premiere collegiate league in the Philippines. The collegiate women's varsity basketball team is called the Lady Eagles. The Ateneo collegiate men's varsity basketball team was not always called the Blue Eagles. It got the name Blue Eagles when Ateneo adopted the Eagle as its mascot in 1938. Prior to that, from 1914 it was known under different names. Ateneo has fifteen collegiate men's varsity teams that participate in fifteen sporting events of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, its mother league. Twenty five years after playing their last game as Blue Eagles, the Board of Directors of the Ateneo Sports Hall of Fame review their playing years as Blue Eagles. Those who meet the criteria are inducted into the Ateneo Sports Hall of Fame.

De La Salle Green Archers

The De La Salle Green Archers are the men's varsity teams representing De La Salle University. The women's varsity teams are referred to as the De La Salle Lady Archers, DLSU Lady Booters (football) and DLSU Lady Spikers (volleyball). The school's varsity teams participate in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, among others. La Salle is represented in the high school level by De La Salle Zobel, and are known as the Zobel Junior Archers.

FEU Tamaraws

The FEU Tamaraws are the varsity teams of Far Eastern University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The collegiate women's varsity teams are called the Lady Tamaraws while the high school varsity teams are called the Baby Tamaraws.

UE Red Warriors

UE Red Warriors refer to the collegiate men's varsity teams of the University of the East. The women's collegiate varsity teams are called the UE Lady Warriors. The Athletic director of the University of the East is Rodrigo M. Roque.

College basketball in the Philippines is fragmented; as of today there is no single governing body, with several leagues in Metro Manila and in the provinces. The University Athletic Association of the Philippines and National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) champions are considered to be the major champions, although several other leagues, claim their champions in equal standing with those of the UAAP and the NCAA.

The Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) is a national collegiate basketball championship league in the Philippines. Its tournament, known as the "National Collegiate Championship" (NCC) is sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, the country's national basketball federation. The league's format varies every season with 250 teams coming from nine different regional areas nationwide.

The Ateneo–La Salle rivalry is a historied rivalry between two of the top elite universities in the Philippines, the Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University. Both are private, Catholic academic institutions within the Metropolitan Manila area. The Ateneo men's varsity team is known as the Ateneo Blue Eagles, women's varsity team as the Ateneo Lady Eagles, and high school team as the Ateneo Blue Eaglets. The Arellano University Chiefs is the athletic team of Arellano University. It is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA). The team has several intercollegiate varsity sports teams for women and men at Arellano.

The LPU Pirates are the athletic teams that represent the Lyceum of the Philippines University and plays in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines), the oldest athletic association in the Philippines. Lyceum has fifteen collegiate men's varsity teams that participate in fifteen sporting events of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines), its mother league. They are popularly known as the "Pirata ng Intramuros". The women's varsity team is called the Lady Pirates, which plays in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) while the high school varsity basketball team is from the Cavite Campus' International High School which is called the Junior Pirates. The university takes part in various sports leagues and tournaments such as the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup, Fr. Martin's Cup, Philippine Collegiate Champions League, Milcu Sports Basketball Presents Got Skills Premier League, PBA Developmental League and Premier Volleyball League (PVL). Lyceum of the Philippines University is the youngest member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines).

The basketball tournaments of NCAA Season 87 are the Philippines' National Collegiate Athletic Association tournaments for basketball in its 2011–12 season. University of Perpetual Help System DALTA hosted the season, starting with an opening ceremony held on July 2, 2011 followed by a triple-header game. Games then are subsequently being held at Filoil Flying V Arena, with seniors' games on Wednesdays, Fridays and select Monday games aired by Studio 23.

Marco Januz "Juno" Sauler is a basketball coach and former basketball player from the Philippines. He was a former head coach of the De La Salle University Green Archers, a collegiate team in the UAAP. Sauler is currently part of coaching staff of the Magnolia Hotshots in the Philippine Basketball Association.
