The 2010 Philippine Collegiate Championship was the third tournament of the Philippine Collegiate Championship (PCC) for basketball in its current incarnation, and the eighth edition overall. The champion teams from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) and 3 other Metro Manila leagues took part in the final tournament dubbed as the "Sweet Sixteen". Other teams had to qualify in the zonal tournaments to round out the 16 teams in the tournament.

The defending champions Ateneo Blue Eagles defeated the Adamson Soaring Falcons in the championship to make it back-to-back; the De La Salle Green Archers and the UC Webmasters disputed third place, with La Salle winning.

Ateneo Blue Eagles

The Ateneo Blue Eagles is the collegiate men's varsity basketball team of the Ateneo de Manila University that plays in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the premiere collegiate league in the Philippines. The collegiate women's varsity basketball team is called the Lady Eagles while the high school varsity basketball team is called the Blue Eaglets. The Ateneo collegiate men's varsity basketball team was not always called the Blue Eagles. It got the name Blue Eagles when Ateneo adopted the Eagle as its mascot in 1938. Prior to that, from 1914 it was known under different names.

Adamson Soaring Falcons

The Adamson Soaring Falcons are the collegiate men's varsity teams of Adamson University that play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines which is the mother sports league of the Falcons. The collegiate women's varsity team is called the Lady Falcons while the high school varsity teams are called the Baby Falcons and Lady Baby Falcons.

De La Salle Green Archers

The De La Salle Green Archers are the men's varsity teams representing De La Salle University. The women's varsity teams are referred to as the DLSU Lady Booters/De La Salle Lady Archers and/or the De La Salle Lady Spikers. The school's varsity teams participate in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, among others. La Salle is represented in the high school level by De La Salle Zobel, and are known as the Zobel Junior Archers.

Studio 23 Filipino television network

Studio 23 was a Filipino television network owned by ABS-CBN Corporation. The network is named for its flagship station in Metro Manila, DWAC-TV, which is carried on UHF channel 23. The network is a sister network of the main channel, ABS-CBN, airing programming aimed towards young adults, such as North American imports and other English-language programming, and original Filipino programming aimed at the demographic as well, such as supplemental programming for ABS-CBN programs. This station studios are located at 3/F ABS-CBN Broadcast Center, Sgt. Esguerra Ave., Mother Ignacia St., Diliman, Quezon City.

Nico Salva basketball player

Nicolas Raymond J. "Nico" Salva is a Filipino basketball player for the Meralco Bolts of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He was selected 11th overall in the 2013 PBA draft by the Batang Pier.

Lester Andrew F. Alvarez is a Filipino basketball player for the Batangas City Athletics of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). Alvarez was a former member of the Adamson Soaring Falcons. He graduated from Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

Alexander Nuyles is a Filipino professional basketball player who last played for the TNT KaTropa of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He was drafted 9th overall by the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the 2013 PBA draft. He was left unprotected by Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the 2014 PBA Expansion Draft. He was then selected by the Blackwater Elite with their third pick in the expansion draft.

Juniors' tournament

This tournament was added only in 2010. The runners-up of the NCAA and UAAP will battle for the third spot while the champion of each league will battle for the top spot.

University Athletic Association of the Philippines

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), established in 1938, is an athletic association of eight Metro Manila universities in the Philippines. The eight member schools are Adamson University (AdU), Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), De La Salle University (DLSU), Far Eastern University (FEU), National University (NU), University of the East (UE), University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), and University of Santo Tomas (UST). Varsity teams from these universities compete annually in the league's 28 events from 15 sports to vie for the overall championship title, namely, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, chess, fencing, football, judo, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

UAAP Basketball Championship

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) holds its basketball tournaments from September to December. Basketball is a mandatory sport in the UAAP. All eight universities participate in the Men's, Women's, and Juniors (Boys') tournaments.

UAAP Season 68

UAAP Season 68 was the 2005–06 season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. Several events were held, the most prominent was the basketball tournament. The tournament is divided into three divisions: the Juniors tournament for high school students, the Women's tournament for female college students, and the Men's tournament for male college students

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines volleyball tournament is divided into four divisions, namely men's, women's, boys' and girls'. Volleyball is a mandatory sport in the women's division. The UAAP volleyball tournament was formerly held in the first semester of the school year. Then in Season 69, the UAAP Board decided that it be moved to the second semester. This decision was made so that the games can be televised to improve its popularity.

Premier Volleyball League

The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is a women's volleyball league in the Philippines organized by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. The league began in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League, a women's collegiate league with teams coming from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation (CESAFI), and other associations. Since 2011, the league welcomed the participation of corporate clubs and non-collegiate teams.

College basketball in the Philippines is fragmented; as of today there is no single governing body, with several leagues in Metro Manila and in the provinces. The University Athletic Association of the Philippines and National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) champions are considered to be the major champions, although several other leagues, claim their champions in equal standing with those of the UAAP and the NCAA.

The Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) is a national collegiate basketball championship league in the Philippines. Its tournament, known as the "National Collegiate Championship" (NCC) is sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, the country's national basketball federation. The league's format varies every season with 250 teams coming from nine different regional areas nationwide.

The UAAP Season 78 high school volleyball tournament will start on August 22, 2015. The tournament venue will be at the Adamson University Gym in San Marcelino St., Ermita, Manila. Adamson is the tournament host. The number of participating schools in the boys' and girls' tournaments both increased to seven. Far Eastern University fielded boys' and girls' volleyball teams beginning season 77. Since there are now seven participating schools, the tournaments will have a Final Four format. The UAAP Board decided to move the high school volleyball tournaments from 2nd semester to 1st semester due to the basketball juniors tournament being moved from the 1st semester to 2nd semester.

Benoit Mbala is a Cameroonian basketball player who last played for the Seoul Samsung Thunders of the Korean Basketball League.
