The 2013 Philippine Collegiate Championship was the sixth edition of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL), the postseason tournament to determine the national collegiate champions in basketball organized by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), the national basketball federation. The tournament was the sixth edition of the tournament in its current incarnation, and the eleventh edition overall.

Contents

The De La Salle Green Archers defeated the SWU Cobras in the best-of-three championship series, 2–0. There was no third-place game in this year's edition of the tournament, and so the FEU Tamaraws and the San Beda Red Lions shared the third-place honors.

The delay in the completion of NCAA Season 89 has led to the rescheduling of the qualifying tournaments. The tournaments were supposed to start on October 25. [1]

Visayas

The Visayas zonals were supposed to be held at the Ormoc Superdome but due to the destruction of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), the games were moved to the Cebu Coliseum. [2] Also, due to the typhoon and to the Bohol earthquake a month earlier, the champions from Bohol (Bohol Institute of Technology-International College Crusaders) and Ormoc (Western Leyte College Mustangs) skipped the tournament. [3]

Mindanao

Northern Mindanao

STI-Cagayan de Oro Olympians defeated St. Columbian College, St. Paul University of Surigao, Christ the King College de Maranding, Bukidnon State University, and Mindanao State University-Marawi and Medical Center in the Northern Mindanao zonals. [4]

Southern Mindanao

The Southern Mindanao zonals was held at the Almendras Gym in Davao City from November 10 to 13.

Ateneo Blue Eagles collegiate mens varsity teams of the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines

The Ateneo Blue Eagles are the collegiate men's varsity teams of the Ateneo de Manila University that play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the premiere collegiate league in the Philippines. The collegiate women's varsity basketball team is called the Lady Eagles. The Ateneo collegiate men's varsity basketball team was not always called the Blue Eagles. It got the name Blue Eagles when Ateneo adopted the Eagle as its mascot in 1938. Prior to that, from 1914 it was known under different names. Ateneo has fifteen collegiate men's varsity teams that participate in fifteen sporting events of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, its mother league. Twenty five years after playing their last game as Blue Eagles, the Board of Directors of the Ateneo Sports Hall of Fame review their playing years as Blue Eagles. Those who meet the criteria are inducted into the Ateneo Sports Hall of Fame.

College basketball in the Philippines is fragmented; as of today there is no single governing body, with several leagues in Metro Manila and in the provinces. The University Athletic Association of the Philippines and National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) champions are considered to be the major champions, although several other leagues, claim their champions in equal standing with those of the UAAP and the NCAA.

Nike Summer League

The Nike Summer League is a defunct pre-season collegiate basketball tournament in the Philippines sponsored by Nike. Its first season started in 2006. The tournament was last held in 2009. Games were telecast on TV by Studio 23.

Philippine Collegiate Champions League

The Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) is a national collegiate basketball championship league in the Philippines. Its tournament, known as the "National Collegiate Championship" (NCC) is sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, the country's national basketball federation. The league's format varies every season with 250 teams coming from nine different regional areas nationwide.

The 2008 Philippine Collegiate Championship is the inaugural tournament of the Philippine Collegiate Championship (PCC) for basketball in its current incarnation, and the sixth edition overall. Other teams had to qualify in the zonal tournaments to round out the 16 teams in the tournament.

NCAA Season 87 is the 2011–2012 season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) of the Philippines. The host school, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD), led the opening ceremonies at the Araneta Coliseum on July 2, 2011. The men's basketball and the women's volleyball tournaments will be aired by ABS-CBN and Studio 23 for the tenth consecutive season, while the men's basketball events will be simulcast on DZRJ-AM.

Marco Januz "Juno" Sauler is a basketball coach and former basketball player from the Philippines. He was a former head coach of the De La Salle University Green Archers, a collegiate team in the UAAP. Sauler is currently part of coaching staff of the Magnolia Hotshots in the Philippine Basketball Association.

The tournament will be the ninth edition in its current incarnation, and the 14th edition overall.

The 2004 Shakey's V-League (SVL) season was the first season of the Shakey's V-League. Founded in 2004 and organized by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc..
