The 2014 Sioux Falls Storm season was the team's fifteenth season as a professional indoor football franchise and sixth in the Indoor Football League (IFL). One of nine teams that competed in the IFL for the 2014 season, the Sioux Falls Storm were members of the United Conference. [1]
Led by head coach Kurtiss Riggs, the Storm played their home games at the Sioux Falls Arena in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. [2] Sioux Falls entered the 2014 season following consecutive wins in the league's "United Bowl" championship game in 2011, 2012, and 2013. [3]
In mid-April 2014, the team announced that this season would be its last at the aging Sioux Falls Arena. In 2015, the Storm will follow the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League to the newly constructed Denny Sanford Premier Center. [4]
Quarterback Chris Dixon, a three-time IFL MVP, returned to the Storm after one season in the Arena Football League. Dixon previously led the Storm to the IFL championship in 2011 and 2012. [5]
On February 26, 2014, the IFL announced its Week 1 Players of the Week. Kicker Parker Douglass was named Special Teams Player of the Week. The league cited his perfect night offensively (1-1 on field goals, 7-7 on PATs) as well as his "high booming kickoffs" forcing Nebraska to start offensive drives from deep in their own territory. Several Sioux Falls players also received Honorable Mentions from the league: running back Tory Harrison for offense, linebacker Tyler Knight for defense, and wide receiver/kick returner James Terry for special teams play. On March 5, 2014, the IFL announced its Week 2 Players of the Week. Sioux Falls Storm linebacker Tyler Knight was named Defensive Player of the Week. Quarterback Chris Dixon and wide receiver Judd Harrold received Honorable Mentions for offense. Kicker Parker Douglass received an Honorable Mention for special teams play. [7] On March 12, 2014, the IFL announced its Week 3 Players of the Week. Sioux Falls Storm linebacker Tyler Knight was named as the Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. [8] On March 19, 2014, the IFL announced its Week 4 Players of the Week. Sioux Falls Storm kicker Parker Douglass received his second Honorable Mention for special teams play. [9]
On April 2, 2014, the IFL announced its Week 6 Players of the Week. Sioux Falls Storm running back/kick returner Tory Harrison and kicker Parker Douglass were jointly named as the Co-Special Teams Players of the Week. Quarterback Chris Dixon received his second Honorable Mention for offense. Linebacker Tyler Knight and defensive back Patrick Wells each received an Honorable Mention for defense. [10] On April 16, 2014, the IFL announced its Week 8 Players of the Week. Sioux Falls Storm quarterback Chris Dixon was named as the Offensive Player of the Week. [11] Honorable mentions were awarded to wide receiver Jeremiah Oates for offense, linebacker Tyler Knight for defense, and kick returner Tory Harrison for special teams play. [12] On April 23, 2014, the IFL announced its Week 9 Players of the Week. Sioux Falls Storm defensive back Kyle Theret received an Honorable Mention for defense. [13]

Sioux Falls Arena is a 7,500-seat multi-purpose arena located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The facility was built in 1961. It seats 6,113 for basketball games and 4,760 for indoor football and hockey.
The Sioux Falls Storm are a dormant professional indoor football team based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Storm joined the original Indoor Football League as an expansion team in 1999 as the Sioux Falls Cobras, and first took the field for the 2000 season. They currently participate in another iteration of the Indoor Football League; prior to that, the Storm were in United Indoor Football (UIF), where they won all four of the league's championship games. In the newer IFL, the Storm have won seven of the eleven championships in the league as of 2019.
The Indoor Football League (IFL) is a professional indoor American football league created in 2008 out of the merger between the Intense Football League and United Indoor Football. It has one of the largest number of currently active teams among indoor football leagues. As of the 2024 season, the league consists of 16 teams in two conferences with each team playing 16 games over 19 weeks.
The Nebraska Danger was a professional indoor football team based in Grand Island, Nebraska, and a member of the Indoor Football League (IFL). The team was founded in 2011 by Charlie Bosselman as an expansion member of the IFL. The Danger played their home games at Eihusen Arena.
The 2013 Texas Revolution season was the team's fourteenth season as a football franchise, fourth in the Indoor Football League (IFL), and first as the "Texas Revolution". One of just nine teams competing in the IFL for the 2013 season, the Texas Revolution were realigned to the United Conference. The team played their home games at the Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas. Head coach Billy Back led the team to a 5–9 record and they failed to qualify for post-season play.
Christopher Dixon II is a former professional indoor football quarterback who currently serves as the head coach for Cactus Shadows High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. He ended his long playing career with a stint for the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League (AFL) before returning to the Sioux Falls Storm near the end of their 2019 season. Dixon attended Contra Costa College for two years before attending Humboldt State University, where he was an all-conference player.
The 2013 Cedar Rapids Titans season was the second season of the Cedar Rapids Titans as a football franchise in the Indoor Football League (IFL). One of just nine teams competing in the IFL for the 2013 season, the Cedar Rapids Titans were members of the league's United Conference. The team played their home games at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Titans had been scheduled to play this season in the renovated U.S. Cellular Center but construction delays kept that building from re-opening during the 2013 IFL season.
The 2013 Colorado Ice season was the team's seventh season as a football franchise and fifth in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Founded in 2007 as part of United Indoor Football, the Colorado Ice became charter members of the IFL when the UIF merged with the Intense Football League before the 2009 season. One of just nine teams that competed in the IFL for the 2013 season, the Fort Collins-based Colorado Ice were members of the Intense Conference. In their second season under head coach Heron O'Neal, the team played their home games at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado.
The 2013 Chicago Slaughter season was the team's seventh season as a football franchise and fourth in the Indoor Football League (IFL). One of just nine teams competing in the IFL for the 2013 season, the Chicago Slaughter were members of the United Conference. Led by longtime head coach Steve "Mongo" McMichael, the team played their home games at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
