The 2014 Southern Utah Thunderbirds softball team represented Southern Utah University in the 2014 NCAA Division I softball season. Kyle Magnusson entered his fifth season as head coach of the Thunderbirds. The Thunderbirds were picked to finish third in the 2014 Big Sky standings. The Thunderbirds finished third in the conference to qualify for the Big Sky Tournament, where they went 3–1 to win the Big Sky Championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. [1] The Thunderbirds claimed the title of the 62-seed and opened competition in the Los Angeles region against top seed UCLA. After going 0–2 in the Los Angeles Regional, the Thunderbirds finished the season 23–31.

Kelly Lee Graves is the current head women's basketball coach at the University of Oregon. Previously, Graves was the head women's basketball coach at St. Mary's from 1997 to 2000, as well as Gonzaga University from 2000 to 2014. He was formerly an assistant coach for the Portland Pilots (1994–1997) and St. Mary Gaels, where he later got his first head coaching stint with the Gaels from 1997 to 2000. From the 2004–2005 season to the 2013–2014 season, he guided Gonzaga to ten consecutive West Coast Conference regular season titles. The 2007 team went 13–1 in conference play, and later won the WCC conference tournament. The school also received its first ever NCAA tournament appearance. He was named WCC co-coach of the year for his accomplishments. In 2005, 2010, and 2011, Gonzaga went undefeated in WCC regular season play.

The Utah Valley Wolverines represent Utah Valley University in NCAA DI collegiate athletics and sponsor 16 sporting programs. The Wolverines participate in the Western Athletic Conference. The school mascot is the Wolverine, and the colors are green and white. The UVU student section is called The Den. A name change from The Mawl, the student section's previous name, was enacted in 2017. All UVU students can get their Den pass, which includes free admission to all athletic events.

He is also the former head men's basketball coach at UNLV where he ranks as the program's third-winningest coach. The 2014 BYU Cougars softball team represents Brigham Young University in the 2014 NCAA Division I softball season. Gordon Eakin enters the year as head coach of the Cougars for a 12th consecutive season. The Cougars enter 2014 being in their fourth conference in four years time. In 2011 the Cougars were part of the Mountain West Conference. In 2012 they joined the Western Athletic Conference for softball only. In 2013 they were part of the Pacific Coast Softball Conference, and in 2014 they join the West Coast Conference. The WCC is in its first season hosting softball after Pacific joined the conference, giving them the six members needed to host softball for the conference. The Cougars have won their last 3 conference championships and enter 2014 as the favorites in the WCC. The Cougars would win the conference championship with a sweep of Saint Mary's April 9 and qualify for their tenth consecutive NCAA softball tournament. After upsetting Northwestern on Thursday, the Cougars would lose twice on Friday to be eliminated from the Eugene region with a 34–23 overall record.

The 2014 Utah Valley Wolverines softball team represented Utah Valley University in the 2014 NCAA Division I softball season. Nikki Palmer entered the year in her first season as head coach of the Wolverines. The Wolverines entered 2014 as new members of the Western Athletic Conference. The Wolverines were picked to finish third in the 2014 WAC standings. After finishing fifth out of six in the WAC Regular season, the Wolverines shocked everyone going 4–0 in the WAC Tournament to earn the conferences automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Wolverines claimed the title of the 64-seed and opened competition in the Eugene region against top seed Oregon. After going 0–2 in the Eugene Regional, the Wolverines ended the season 18–42.

The 2015 Southern Utah Thunderbirds football team represented Southern Utah University in the 2015 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by eighth-year head coach Ed Lamb and played their home games at Eccles Coliseum. This was their fourth year as a member of the Big Sky Conference. They finished the season 8–4, 7–1 in Big Sky play to be crowned Big Sky champion for the first time. They received the Big Sky's automatic bid to the FCS playoffs where they lost in the first round to Sam Houston State.

The 2015–16 Southern Utah Thunderbirds basketball team represented Southern Utah University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Thunderbirds were led by fourth-year head coach Nick Robinson and played their home games at the Centrum Arena in Cedar City, Utah. They were members of the Big Sky Conference. The Thunderbirds finished the season 5–24, 3–15 in Big Sky play to finish in a tie for 11th place. They lost in the first round of the Big Sky tournament to North Dakota.

The 2016 NCAA Division I softball tournament was held from May 20 through June 8, 2016 as the final part of the 2016 NCAA Division I softball season. The 64 NCAA Division I college softball teams were to be selected out of an eligible 293 teams on May 15, 2016. Thirty-two teams were awarded an automatic bid as champions of their conference, and thirty-two teams were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I softball selection committee. The tournament culminated with eight teams playing in the 2016 Women's College World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City in which the Oklahoma Sooners were crowned the champions.

The Oklahoma Sooners softball team represents the University of Oklahoma in NCAA Division I College softball. The team competes in the Big 12 Conference, and plays its home games at Love's Field in Norman, Oklahoma. The Sooners are currently led by head coach Patty Gasso.

The 2016–17 Weber State Wildcats men's basketball team represented Weber State University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wildcats were led by 11th-year head coach Randy Rahe and played their home games in the Dee Events Center in Ogden, Utah, as members of the Big Sky Conference. They finished the season 20–14, 12–6 in Big Sky play to finish in a tie for third place. As the No. 3 seed in the Big Sky tournament, they defeated Southern Utah and Eastern Washington before losing in the championship game to North Dakota. They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament where they defeated Cal State Fullerton in the first round to win the Riley Wallace Classic. In the second round, they lost to Texas A&M–Corpus Christi.

The Thunderbirds were led by first-year head coach Todd Simon and played their home games at the Centrum Arena in Cedar City, Utah as members of the Big Sky Conference. They finished the season 6–27, 3–15 in Big Sky play to finish in a tie for 11th. As the No. 11 seed in the Big Sky tournament, they defeated Montana State in the first round before losing to Weber State in the quarterfinals.

The 2006 NCAA Division I softball season, play of college softball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began in February 2006. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2006 NCAA Division I softball tournament and 2006 Women's College World Series. The Women's College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA Tournament and held in held in Oklahoma City at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium, ended on June 6, 2006.

The 2020–21 Southern Utah Thunderbirds men's basketball team represented Southern Utah University in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Thunderbirds, led by 5th-year head coach Todd Simon, played their home games at the America First Event Center in Cedar City, Utah as members of the Big Sky Conference. They finished the season 20-4, 12-2 in Big Sky Play to finish as regular season champions. They defeated Northern Colorado in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky tournament before losing in the semifinals to Montana State.

The 2022–23 Southern Utah Thunderbirds men's basketball team represented Southern Utah University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Thunderbirds, led by seventh-year head coach Todd Simon, played their home games at the America First Event Center in Cedar City, Utah, as first-year members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 24–13, 12–6 in WAC play to finish in third place. They defeated Utah Tech and Utah Valley in the WAC tournament before losing to Grand Canyon in the championship game. They received an invitation to the College Basketball Invitational tournament where they defeated North Alabama and Rice to advance to the semifinals. There they lost to Eastern Kentucky in double overtime.
