The 2014 Utah Valley Wolverines softball team represented Utah Valley University in the 2014 NCAA Division I softball season. Nikki Palmer entered the year in her first season as head coach of the Wolverines. [1] The Wolverines entered 2014 as new members of the Western Athletic Conference. [2] The Wolverines were picked to finish third in the 2014 WAC standings. After finishing fifth out of six in the WAC Regular season, the Wolverines shocked everyone going 4–0 in the WAC Tournament to earn the conferences automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. [3] The Wolverines claimed the title of the 64-seed and opened competition in the Eugene region against top seed Oregon. After going 0–2 in the Eugene Regional, the Wolverines ended the season 18–42.

All Utah Valley home games were streamed live on YouTube. The games at Utah were streamed online via Utah's Pac-12 Digital Channel, and the games at BYU were shown live on BYUtv. The NCAA Regional game vs. Oregon was shown nationwide on Pac-12 Network.
The Mountain West Conference (MW) is a collegiate athletic conference located in the United States, participating in NCAA Division I. Its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The MW officially began operations on January 4, 1999. Geographically, the MW covers a broad expanse of the Western United States, with member schools located in California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, and Hawaii. Gloria Nevarez took over as commissioner of the MW on January 1, 2023, following the retirement of founding commissioner Craig Thompson.
The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) is an NCAA Division I conference. The WAC covers a broad expanse of the western United States with member institutions located in Arizona, California, Texas, Utah and Washington.
The Pacific Coast Softball Conference (PCSC) was an NCAA Division I conference that only sponsored women's softball. It was founded in 2002, beginning play in spring 2003, with six members in the Western United States. The PCSC expanded to 12 members for the 2009–10 school year, and maintained that size for three seasons, but major conference realignment first decimated the conference and then led to its demise after the 2013 softball season.
The Utah Valley Wolverines represent Utah Valley University in NCAA DI collegiate athletics and sponsor 16 sporting programs. The Wolverines participate in the Western Athletic Conference. The school mascot is the Wolverine, and the colors are green and white. The UVU student section is called The Den. A name change from The Mawl, the student section's previous name, was enacted in 2017. All UVU students can get their Den pass, which includes free admission to all athletic events.
The Utah Valley Wolverines men's basketball team is a team that represents Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, United States. The team is currently coached by Todd Phillips. The school's team currently competes in the Western Athletic Conference of NCAA Division I college basketball. Its home games are played in the UCCU Center on the school's Orem, Utah campus. The Wolverines have yet to appear in the NCAA tournament since moving to Division I. The Wolverines joined the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in 2013 as part of the early-2010s NCAA conference realignment.
The 1977 BYU Cougars football team represented Brigham Young University (BYU) for the 1977 NCAA Division I football season. The Cougars were led by sixth-year head coach LaVell Edwards and played their home games at Cougar Stadium in Provo, Utah. The team competed as a member of the Western Athletic Conference, winning a share of the conference title for the second consecutive year, sharing the title with Arizona State with a conference record of 6–1.
David Wayne Rice is an American college basketball coach for Salt Lake Community College. He is also the former head men's basketball coach at UNLV where he ranks as the program's third-winningest coach. He spent the 2016-2017 season as an assistant coach at the University of Nevada, Reno, and an assistant coach at the University of Washington for the past three seasons (2017–present).
The 2014 BYU Cougars softball team represented Brigham Young University in the 2014 NCAA Division I softball season. Gordon Eakin entered the year as head coach of the Cougars for a 12th consecutive season. The Cougars entered 2014 being in their fourth conference in four years time. In 2011 the Cougars were part of the Mountain West Conference. In 2012, they joined the Western Athletic Conference for softball only. In 2013, they were part of the Pacific Coast Softball Conference, and in 2014 they joined the West Coast Conference. The WCC was in its first season hosting softball after Pacific joined the conference, giving them the six members needed to host softball for the conference. The Cougars had won their last 3 conference championships and entered 2014 as the favorites in the WCC. The Cougars won the conference championship with a sweep of Saint Mary's on April 9 and qualified for their tenth consecutive NCAA softball tournament. After upsetting Northwestern on Thursday, the Cougars lost twice on Friday to be eliminated from the Eugene region with a 34–23 overall record.
The 2014 NCAA Division I softball tournament was held from May 15 through June 5, 2014 as the final part of the 2014 NCAA Division I softball season. The 64 NCAA Division I college softball teams were selected out of an eligible 293 teams on May 11, 2014. 32 teams were awarded an automatic bid as champions of their conference, and 32 teams were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Softball Selection Committee. The tournament culminated with eight teams playing in the 2014 Women's College World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
The 2014 Southern Utah Thunderbirds softball team represented Southern Utah University in the 2014 NCAA Division I softball season. Kyle Magnusson entered his fifth season as head coach of the Thunderbirds. The Thunderbirds were picked to finish third in the 2014 Big Sky standings. The Thunderbirds finished third in the conference to qualify for the Big Sky Tournament, where they went 3–1 to win the Big Sky Championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Thunderbirds claimed the title of the 62-seed and opened competition in the Los Angeles region against top seed UCLA. After going 0–2 in the Los Angeles Regional, the Thunderbirds finished the season 23–31.

Dick Hunsaker was in his thirteenth season as the UVU head coach. The Wolverines played their home games at the UCCU Center as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 11–19, 5–9 in WAC play to finish in sixth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the WAC tournament to Cal State Bakersfield.
The 2015–16 Utah Runnin' Utes men's basketball team represented the University of Utah during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They played their home games at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City as members of the Pac-12 Conference. The Utes were led by fifth year head coach Larry Krystkowiak. They the season 27–9, 13-5 in Pac-12 play to finish in second place. They defeated USC and California to advance to the championship game of the Pac-12 tournament where they lost to Oregon. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they defeated Fresno State in the first round to advance to the second round where they lost to Gonzaga.
The 2015–16 Utah Valley Wolverines men's basketball team represented Utah Valley University in the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was the first year under head coach Mark Pope. They played their home games at the UCCU Center and were member of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 12–18, 6–8 in WAC play to finish in fifth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the WAC tournament to UMKC.
The 2016–17 Utah Runnin' Utes men's basketball team represented the University of Utah during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by sixth-year head coach Larry Krystkowiak. They played their home games at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah as members of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 20–12, 11–7 in Pac-12 play to finish in fourth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 tournament to California. They received an invitation to the National Invitation Tournament where they lost in the first round to Boise State.
The 2017 Utah Valley Wolverines volleyball team represented Utah Valley University in the 2017 NCAA Division I women's volleyball season. The Wolverines were led by nineteenth year head coach Sam Atoa and played their home games at Lockhart Arena. The Wolverines were members of the WAC.
The 1981–82 Washington Huskies men's basketball team represented the University of Washington for the 1981–82 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by eleventh-year head coach Marv Harshman, the Huskies were members of the Pacific-10 Conference and played their home games on campus at Hec Edmundson Pavilion in Seattle, Washington.

The team was led by ninth-year head coach Larry Krystkowiak. They played their home games at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah as members of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 16–15, 7–11 in Pac-12 play to finish in a three-way tie for eighth place. They lost in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament to Oregon State.
The 2019–20 Utah Valley Wolverines men's basketball team represented Utah Valley University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wolverines, led by first-year head coach Mark Madsen, played their home games at the UCCU Center in Orem, Utah as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 11–19, 5–10 in WAC play to finish in finish in eighth place. Due to irregularities in the WAC standings due to cancelled games, they were set to be the No. 6 seed in the WAC tournament, however, the tournament was cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2022–23 Utah Valley Wolverines men's basketball team represented Utah Valley University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wolverines, led by fourth-year head coach Mark Madsen, played their home games at the UCCU Center in Orem, Utah, and competed as members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). They finished with an overall record of 24–7, 15–3 in WAC play, to finish in first place. In the 2023 WAC tournament, they defeated Tarleton in the quarterfinals before losing to Southern Utah in the semifinals the following day. As the conference leader who didn't win their tournament, they were offered an automatic bid to play in the NIT. They defeated New Mexico, Colorado, and Cincinnati to reach the semifinal round, where they finally fell to UAB in overtime, 86–88. With a final record of 28–9, the 2022–23 season marked the Wolverine's most successful season to date as a D-I program.
The 2023–24 Utah Valley Wolverines men's basketball team represented Utah Valley University (UVU) in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wolverines, led by first-year head coach Todd Phillips, played their home games at the UCCU Center in Orem, Utah, and competed as members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). They finished the season 16–16, 11–9 in WAC play, to finish in a tie for fourth place. As the No. 5 seed in the WAC tournament, they lost to California Baptist in the first round.
