The Siena Saints (formerly the Siena Indians) are composed of 21 teams representing Siena College in collegiate sports. The Saints compete in the NCAA Division I and are members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. [2] They changed their name prior to the 1988-89 season. [3]

The NCAA Division I program competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and the annual Franciscan Cup. The Saints are currently coached by Gerry McNamara. He replaced Carmen Maciariello who was fired on March 20, 2024 after 5 seasons.

Siena College is a private Franciscan college in Loudonville, Albany County, New York. Siena was founded by the Order of Friars Minor in 1937. The college was named after Bernardino of Siena, a 15th-century Italian Franciscan friar and preacher. St. Bernardine of Siena Friary is located on campus. The college has 3,000 full-time students and offers undergraduate degrees in business, liberal arts, and sciences.

The 2009–10 Siena Saints men's basketball team represented Siena College in the 2009–10 college basketball season. This was head coach Fran McCaffery's fifth season at Siena. The Saints competed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and played their home games at Times Union Center. They finished the season 27–7, 17–1 in MAAC play to capture the regular season championship. They also won the 2010 MAAC men's basketball tournament for the third consecutive year to earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. They earned a 13 seed in the South Region where they lost to 4 seed and AP #10 Purdue in the first round.

The Siena Saints baseball team, formerly the Siena Indians, is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Siena College in Loudonville, New York. The team is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The team plays its home games at Connors Park in Loudonville, New York. The Saints are coached by Alex Jurczynski. The Saints were coached by Tony Rossi for an NCAA record, 53+12 seasons before he announced his retirement effective March 20, 2023.

The Siena Saints football program was the intercollegiate American football team for Siena College located in Loudonville, New York. The team competed in the NCAA Division I-AA and were members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The school's first football team was fielded in 1965. Siena participated in football from 1965 to 2003, compiling an all-time record of 124–215–3. On January 21, 2004, Siena announced it was discontinuing its D I-AA football program. The discontinuation of the football program saved $200,000 from the school Athletic Department's annual budget, which was reallocated into other areas within the Athletic Department.

The Siena Saints softball team represents Siena College in the NCAA Division I college softball. The team participates in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). From 1984 until 1989, the Saints were a member of the America East Conference (AEC). The Saints are currently led by head coach Casey Bump. The team plays its home games at Siena Softball Field located on the university's campus.

Tony Rossi is an American former college baseball coach and player, resigning 18 games into his 54th season as head coach of the Siena Saints baseball program on March 20, 2023. Rossi is the longest tenured coach with the same institution in NCAA Division I baseball, and only Augie Garrido has been a head coach for more years than Rossi.

The 2013–14 Siena Saints men's basketball team represented Siena College during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Saints, led by first year head coach Jimmy Patsos, played their home games at the Times Union Center, with some exhibition and postseason games at Alumni Recreation Center, and were members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 20–18, 11–9 in MAAC play to finish in fifth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the MAAC tournament to Canisius. They were invited to the College Basketball Invitational where they defeated Stony Brook, Penn State and Illinois State to advance to the best-of-3 finals vs Fresno State. In the finals, they defeated Fresno State 2 games to 1 to be crowned 2014 CBI champions.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2018 Western Athletic Conference men's soccer season</span> Sports season

The 2018 Western Athletic Conference men's soccer season is the 23rd consecutive competition of men's college soccer in the Western Athletic Conference under the 2018 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. The season will feature twelve teams, where five are affiliate members of the conference. Air Force, San Jose State, and UNLV will compete from the Mountain West Conference, while Houston Baptist and Incarnate Word come from the Southland Conference. Colleges in the WAC will begin competition on August 24, 2018, and conclude on November 9, 2018 after the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. Prior to the NCAA Division I Tournament Championship, there will be a postseason conference tournament held in Seattle, Washington at the Championship Field, where the winner is guaranteed to represent the WAC in the NCAA Division I Tournament. The California Baptist Lancers are ineligible for postseason as they are in transition to the NCAA Division I level. Chicago State and New Mexico State have defunct programs in this season.

Jalen Pickett is an American professional basketball player for the Grand Rapids Gold of the NBA G League, on assignment from the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Siena Saints and the Penn State Nittany Lions of the Big Ten Conference. He is a graduate of SPIRE Institute and Academy, an Olympic training center in Geneva, Ohio.

The Saints competed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and played their home games at Times Union Center. They finished the season 23–11, 13–5 in MAAC play to capture the regular season championship. They also won the 2008 MAAC men's basketball tournament to earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 13 seed in the Midwest Region. After an opening round upset of No. 4 seed Vanderbilt, the Saints lost to No. 12 seed Villanova in the second round.

The 2008–09 Siena Saints men's basketball team represented Siena College in the 2007–08 college basketball season. This was head coach Fran McCaffery's fourth season at Siena. The Saints competed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and played their home games at Times Union Center. They finished the season 27–8, 16–2 in MAAC play to capture the regular season championship. They also won the 2009 MAAC men's basketball tournament for the second consecutive season to earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 9 seed in the Midwest Region. After an opening round win over No. 8 seed Ohio State, the Saints lost to No. 1 seed Louisville in the second round.
