The UMass Minutemen are the athletic teams that represent the University of Massachusetts Amherst; strictly speaking, the Minutemen nickname applies to men's teams and athletes only — women's teams and athletes are known as Minutewomen. The Minutemen and Minutewomen compete in NCAA Division I sports competition primarily as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. In 2016 Stephane won the EuroCup Championship and earned the Finals MVP award, as well as, an All-EuroLeague Second Team selection in 2014 and won the EuroLeague Best Defender award in 2013, among others.

The UMass Minutemen basketball team represents the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Amherst, Massachusetts, in NCAA Division I men's college basketball. They play their home games in the William D. Mullins Memorial Center. The Minutemen currently compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Beginning in the 2025–26 season, the team will play as a member of the Mid-American Conference.

The team was coached by Don Brown and played its home games at Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium in Hadley, Massachusetts. The Minutemen won their first conference title since 2003, and advanced all the way to the NCAA Division I Championship before falling to Appalachian State. 2006 was the last season of A-10 football, as all member programs would move over to the Colonial Athletic Association in the offseason. UMass finished the season with a record of 13–2.

Todd Andrew Bankhead is a former American football quarterback who played two seasons in the Arena Football League (AFL) with the New Jersey Gladiators and Georgia Force. He first enrolled at Palomar College before transferring to the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He attended Orange Glen High School in Escondido, California. Bankhead was also a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Matthew Reynolds is an American college baseball coach and former player. Reynolds is the head coach of the UMass Minutemen baseball team. Reynolds played college baseball at the University of Maine for coach Paul Kostacopoulos before transferring to the University of Massachusetts Amherst to play for coach Mike Stone from 2003 to 2004.

The 2005-06 UMass Minutemen basketball team represented the University of Massachusetts Amherst during the 2005-06 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Minutemen, led by first year head coach Travis Ford, played their home games at William D. Mullins Memorial Center and were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 13-15, 8-8 in A-10 play to finish in a four-way tie for seventh place.
