The 2015–2016 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup events and season-long competition will take place between 16 September 2015 and 24 January 2016, organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). With CrossVegas, this season featured the first World Cup cross outside Europe.
The UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup is a season-long competition in cyclo-cross, organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). First held in the 1993–1994 season, there are currently four awards, tailored to the different categories of riders: elite men, U23 men, junior men and elite women.
The Union Cycliste Internationale is the world governing body for sports cycling and oversees international competitive cycling events. The UCI is based in Aigle, Switzerland.
CrossVegas is a Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) sanctioned Cyclo-cross race that takes place in Las Vegas on a Wednesday evening in September after the first full day of the Interbike trade show.
Defending champions are Kevin Pauwels in the men's competition and Sanne Cant in the women's competition.
Kevin Pauwels is a retired Belgian professional racing cyclist, for the Sunweb-Napoleon Games team. Pauwels retired on 24 February 2019 by winning the Sluitingsprijs Oostmalle.
Sanne Cant is a Belgian racing cyclist. She participates mainly in cyclo-cross. Cant is a cousin of Loes Sels.
Points are awarded to all eligible riders each race. The top ten finishers receive points according to the following table:

In comparison to last season's six races, this season had seven. Milton Keynes was taken out of the programme – while Las Vegas and Lignières-en-Berry were added .

Mountain bike racing is the competitive cycle sport discipline of mountain biking held on off-road terrain. The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) recognised the discipline relatively late in 1990, when it sanctioned the world championships in Durango, Colorado. The first UCI Mountain Bike World Cup series took place in 1988. Its nine-race circuit covered two continents—Europe and North America—and was sponsored by Grundig. Cross-country racing was the only World Cup sport at this time. In 1993, a six-event downhill World Cup was introduced. In 1996, cross-country mountain biking events were added to the Olympic Games. In 2006, cross-country mountain biking events became part of the World Deaf Cycling Championships for the first time in San Francisco, USA.
Greg Minnaar is a South African World Champion mountain bike racer competing in downhill cycling. He currently competes in the Mountain Bike World Cup points series races, in the Elite Downhill event. Minnaar is currently the most prolific winner among male professional downhill mountain bike racers, with 21 world cup career victories.
The 2004 UCI Road World Cup was the sixteenth and last edition of the UCI Road World Cup. There was no change in the calendar from the 2003 edition, meaning the final seven editions had the same calendar.

The 2008–2009 Cyclo-cross Superprestige events and season-long competition takes place between 12 October 2008 and 12 February 2009. Eight events are organised.
The UCI World Tour is the premier men's elite road cycling tour, sitting above the various regional UCI Continental Circuits. It refers to both the tour of 38 events and, until 2019, an annual ranking system based upon performances in these. The World Ranking was launched in 2009, and merged fully with its predecessor the UCI ProTour in 2011. UCI WorldTeams must compete at all events that were part of the tour prior to the 2017 expansion.
The 2009–2010 Cyclo-cross Superprestige events and season-long competition took place between 11 October 2009 and 14 February 2010. Eight events were organised and the overall title went to Zdeněk Štybar.

Mathieu van der Poel is a Dutch cyclist, who currently competes in the cyclo-cross, mountain bike racing and road bicycle racing disciplines of the sport, for UCI Professional Continental team Corendon–Circus. He is best known for winning the Cyclo-cross World Championships in Tábor in 2015 and in Bogense in 2019, the Junior Road Race World Championships in Florence, Italy in 2013, and twice winning the Junior Cyclo-cross World Championships, in Koksijde, Belgium in 2012, and Louisville, USA in 2013; the first rider to win multiple titles at that level. As well as this, Van der Poel was the winner of the 2018 Dutch National Road Race Championships in Hoogerheide.
The 2015 Tour de Romandie was the 69th edition of the Tour de Romandie stage race. It took place from 28 April to 3 May and was the fourteenth race of the 2015 UCI World Tour. The race took place around the Romandie region of Switzerland, starting in Lac de Joux and finishing in Lausanne. The race includes six stages, with a team time trial at the beginning and an individual time trial at the end and four hilly or mountainous stages in between. The queen stage is the fifth stage, which finishes on the climb above Champex-Lac.
The 2015–2016 Cyclo-cross Superprestige events and season-long competition started on 4 October 2015 and will conclude on 13 February 2016. Due to injury, defending champion Mathieu van der Poel missed the start of the season.
The 2016 UCI World Tour was a competition that included 27 road cycling events throughout the 2016 men's cycling season. It was the eighth edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2009. The competition started with the opening stage of the Tour Down Under on 19 January, and concluded with Il Lombardia on 1 October. Spain's Alejandro Valverde was the two-times defending champion.
The 2016 Tour de Romandie was a road cycling stage race that took place in the Romandie region of Switzerland between 26 April and 1 May 2016. It was the 70th edition of the Tour de Romandie cycling stage race and the 14th event in the 2016 UCI World Tour. The defending champion was Team Katusha's Ilnur Zakarin.
The 2016 Tour of Oman was a road cycling stage race that took place between 16 and 21 February 2016 in Oman. It was the seventh edition of the Tour of Oman and is rated as a 2.HC race as part of the 2016 UCI Asia Tour. The previous year's champion, Rafael Valls, was not present to defend his title.

The 2017 Giro d'Italia was the 100th edition of the Giro d'Italia, one of cycling's Grand Tour races. The race started on 5 May in Alghero on the island of Sardinia, and ended on 28 May in Milan. The race was won by Tom Dumoulin, who became the first Dutch male winner of the Giro.

The 2018 UCI Women's World Tour was a competition that included twenty-four road cycling events throughout the 2018 women's cycling season. It was the third edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2016. The competition began with Strade Bianche on 3 March and concluded with the Tour of Guangxi on 21 October. Anna van der Breggen of the Netherlands was the defending champion.
