The 2017–18 Ranji Trophy was the 84th season of the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class cricket tournament that took place in India between October 2017 and January 2018. Vidarbha won the tournament, beating Delhi by 9 wickets in the final, to win their first Ranji Trophy title. Vidarbha made their Ranji Trophy debut in the 1957–58 season, making it the third-longest wait before a team won their maiden title. Vidarbha's captain, Faiz Fazal, said that "winning the Ranji Trophy has been the biggest achievement in my career".

It was played from 14 August to 21 August 2018. The participating teams were India Blue, India Green and India Red. It was played in double round-robin format followed by a final. India Blue defeated India Red by 4 runs in the final to win their first T20 title.

It was played from 1 December 2018 to 31 December 2018 in a round-robin format, with 36 teams were divided in 4 groups. Bengal won the tournament, beating Andhra in the final by 10 runs. It took place in August and September 2019, starting the 2019–20 domestic cricket season in India. India Blue were the defending champions. Unlike the previous three seasons, the tournament was played as day games, played with a red ball. The final was initially announced as a day/night match with the pink ball. However, the final was changed and was played as a day game. The change was attributed due to players' preference.
The 2021–22 Ranji Trophy was the 87th season of the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class cricket tournament in India. The tournament was split into two phases, with the league stage being played from 17 February to 15 March 2022, and the knockout phase played from 6 to 26 June 2022. Due to the delayed start of the tournament because of the COVID-19 pandemic, teams were split into eight Elite groups, instead of five as per previous editions, and the Plate Group. The seven teams that won their Elite Group with the best points progressed to the knockout phase. They were joined by the winner of the pre-quarter-final match between the Elite Group winning team with the fewest points and the winner of the Plate Group.

In the first round of the tournament, Nagaland player Kiran Navgire scored an unbeaten 162 against Arunachal Pradesh. Railways, the defending champions, beat Maharashtra in the final to win their tenth T20 title.
