The 2016 Big East Conference softball tournament was held at The Ballpark at Rosemont in Rosemont, Illinois. The tournament, hosted by DePaul University, ran May 13 through May 14, 2016 and determined the champion for the Big East Conference for the 2016 NCAA Division I softball season. Fourth-seeded Butler won the tournament for the first time and earned the Big East Conference's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament. [2] The entire tournament aired on Fox Sports 2. Dave Bernhard and Bob Brainerd served as the broadcasters for Fox.

Format and seeding

The top four teams from the conference's round-robin regular season qualified for the tournament, and were seeded one through four. They played a single-elimination tournament. [3]

As the 1 seed in the 2011 Big East Men's Basketball Tournament, they were upset by 9 seed Connecticut in their first tournament game. They received an at-large bid in the 2011 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament as the 1 seed in the southeast region. They defeated 16 seed UNC Asheville in the first round before being upset by 8 seed Butler in the second round.

The entire tournament was broadcast on Fox Sports 2. Eric Collins and Brooke Weisbrod served as the broadcasters for Fox.

The 2016 American Athletic Conference Softball tournament was held at the Collins Family Softball Complex on the campus of the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma from May 12 through May 14, 2016. The event determined the champion of the American Athletic Conference for the 2016 NCAA Division I softball season. Third-seeded Tulsa won the Tournament for the first time and earned the American Athletic Conference's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament. All games were televised; the quarterfinals and semifinals were shown on the American Digital Network while the championship was broadcast on ESPN.

The 2016 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament was held from May 20 through June 8, 2016 as the final part of the 2016 NCAA Division I softball season. The 64 NCAA Division I college softball teams were to be selected out of an eligible 293 teams on May 15, 2016. Thirty-two teams were awarded an automatic bid as champions of their conference, and thirty-two teams were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I softball selection committee. The tournament culminated with eight teams playing in the 2016 Women's College World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City in which the Oklahoma Sooners were crowned the champions.

The Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament is the conference championship tournament in soccer for the Big Ten Conference. The tournament is single-elimination format and seeding is based on regular season records. The top four highest-seeded teams host the quarterfinal matches and the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinal round. The highest remaining seeded teams following the quarterfinal round hosts the semifinals and likewise for the championship match.

2017–18 Villanova Wildcats mens basketball team American college basketball season

The 2017–18 Villanova Wildcats men's basketball team represented Villanova University in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by head coach Jay Wright in his 17th year, the Wildcats played their home games at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as members of the Big East Conference. The Wildcats finished the season 36–4, 14–4 in Big East play to finish in second place. They defeated Marquette, Butler, and Providence to win the Big East Tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 seed in the East region, their third No.1 seed in four years. They defeated Radford, Alabama, West Virginia, and Texas Tech to advance to the Final Four for the second time in three years. In the National Semifinal, they defeated Kansas before defeating Michigan in the National Championship game to win their second national championship in three years. They won every game of the tournament by a double-digit margin and the team's tournament run is widely considered the most dominant ever along with being called among the best seasons of all time.

The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2021 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament and 2021 Women's College World Series. The Women's College World Series, consisted of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA Tournament was held in Oklahoma City at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium, and ended on June 10, 2021.

The 2021 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament was held from May 21 through June 10, 2021 as the final part of the 2021 NCAA Division I softball season. 31 teams were awarded automatic bids as champions of their conferences after the Ivy League opted out of the 2021 softball season. The remaining 33 were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I softball selection committee on May 16, 2021. The tournament culminated with eight teams playing in the 2021 Women's College World Series at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.

The 1993 Big East Conference softball tournament was held at Connecticut Softball Stadium in Storrs, Connecticut. The tournament, hosted by the University of Connecticut, ran April 23 and April 24, 1993 and determined the champion for the Big East Conference for the 1993 NCAA Division I softball season. Top-seeded Connecticut won the tournament for the fourth time and earned the Big East Conference's automatic bid to the 1993 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament.

The 2022 Big East Conference softball tournament will be held at Cacciatore Stadium on the campus of the DePaul University in Rosemont, Illinois. The tournament will run May 12 through May 14, 2022 and will determine the champion for the Big East Conference for the 2022 NCAA Division I softball season. The tournament champion will earn the Big East Conference's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament. The semifinals and finals will be broadcast on Fox Sports 2.
