The 2016 OVC Softball Championship was held May 11-14 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama. This marked the 23rd time the Championship had been held and thefourth year it featured eight teams. This year was the first-straight year it was held at the neutral site in Oxford instead of at the site of the No. 1 seed. The tournament winner earned the OVC's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament. All games were streamed courtesy of the OVC Digital Network.

The defending champion was Tennessee Tech which won its seventh OVC Championship in 2015. [1]

The Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Tournament is the conference baseball championship of the NCAA Division I Ohio Valley Conference. The top six finishers in the regular season of the conference's ten teams advance to the double elimination tournament, which in 2016 will be held at The Ballpark at Jackson in Jackson, Tennessee. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.

Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles

The Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles are the athletic teams that represent the University of Southern Indiana, located outside Evansville in Vanderburgh County, Indiana, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Screaming Eagles compete as members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference for all 15 varsity sports. Southern Indiana has been a member of the GLVC since 1978, but announced on February 9, 2022, that it would reclassify to NCAA Division I as a new member of the Ohio Valley Conference.

The SIU Edwardsville Cougars were the defending champions, but they were eliminated from the 2017 tournament with a 2–1 quarterfinal loss to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels. The conference tournament title was the fourth for the Murray State women's soccer program and the third for head coach Jeremy Groves.

The 2021 Ohio Valley Conference Softball tournament was held at Choccolocco Park near the campus of Jacksonville State University in Oxford, Alabama from May 13 through May 15, 2021. The tournament winner earned the Ohio Valley Conference's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament
