2016 FIBA Asia Challenge qualification

Qualifying for the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge is currently being held to determine the eight teams that will participate in the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge, aside from the host team Iran and 2015 FIBA Asia Championship winners China. Qualification is via FIBA Asia zone, with each zone having an automatic one berth, plus additional berths from the teams' zones of the second and third runners-up in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship.

Hosts Thailand and the Philippines already clinched the SEABA spots due to their top two placings with one more round to go. The Philippines won their second tournament title by defeating the hosts Thailand in the championship match, 97−80.

West Asia

The 2016 West Asian Basketball Association Championship in Amman, Jordan will determine West Asia's two qualifiers. Iran automatically qualified whether or not they win the tournament by virtue of being the host of the main tournament. [2] Nevertheless, they still reigned over the sub-zone tournament by sweeping their opponents. [3]

The 2016 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship was the 24th edition of the Asian Championship for Junior Men aged 18 years old and below. The tournament was held in Tehran, Iran from July 22 to 31. The top three teams will qualify and will represent FIBA Asia the 2017 FIBA Under-19 World Championship in Egypt. This will be the second time the country will host the tournament after successfully staging the 20th edition eight years ago.

The 2016 SEABA Under-18 Championship was the qualifying tournament for Southeast Asia Basketball Association at the 2016 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship. The tournament was the tenth edition and took place in Medan, Indonesia from 23 April to 28 April 2016. Due to the Philippines' top five finish at the 2014 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship, the subzone was allotted another spot to be contested, totaling to three spots for SEABA in the Asian tournament.

The 2017 SEABA Under-16 Championship was the qualifying tournament for Southeast Asia Basketball Association at the 2017 FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship. The tournament was held in Quezon City, Philippines from May 14 to 18. The Smart Araneta Coliseum was the venue of the five-team competition, coinciding with the 2017 SEABA Championship.

The 2017 SABA Championship is the 6th SABA Championship, and the qualifying event in the SABA sub-zone, one of the FIBA Asia's subzone for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup and 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers. The games were held from 19 to 23 May in Malé, Maldives. India successfully defended their SABA crown after sweeping the whole tournament. With this win, they qualified for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup and the first round of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers. The tournament followed a single round robin format.

The 2018 FIBA U18 Women's Asian Championship was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia at the 2019 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup. The tournament, which was also the 24th edition of the biennial competition, was held in Bangalore, India from 28 October to 3 November. The top four teams qualified and will represent FIBA Asia in the 2019 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Thailand.

The 2018 FIBA Asia Champions Cup was the 27th staging of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, the international basketball club tournament of FIBA Asia. The tournament, which was originally scheduled to be hosted by China, took place in Thailand from 27 September to 2 October 2018. Games were played at Stadium29 in Nonthaburi.

The 2022 FIBA Asia Cup qualification was a basketball competition that was played from February 2018 to August 2021, to determine the fifteen FIBA Asia-Oceania nations who would join the automatically qualified host Indonesia at the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup.

The 2021 SABA Championship was the 8th SABA Championship, and also known as Bangabandhu 6th South Asian Basketball Championship. The games were held from 15 to 19 November in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Aside from the host country, other confirmed participants are from India, Sri Lanka and Maldives.

The 2022 FIBA U18 Women's Asian Championship was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia at the 2023 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup. The tournament, which was also the 25th edition of the biennial competition, was held in Bangalore, India from 5 to 11 September. The top four teams qualified and will represent FIBA Asia in the 2023 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Spain.
