The 2016 season is Manchester City Women's Football Club's 28th season of competitive football and its third season in the FA Women's Super League and at the top level of English women's football, having been promoted from the FA Women's Premier League before the 2014 season. [1] This season will also be the first occasion on which City Women contest a European competition, having qualified through their runners-up finish in the 2015 Women's Super League. [2]

Rachel Williams (footballer) English footballer

Rachel Louise Williams is an English international women's footballer who most recently played for Tottenham Hotspur in the FA WSL. Before rejoining Birmingham City in May 2017, Williams spent 2 years at Notts County Ladies, one year at Chelsea Ladies and three years at her first spell at Birmingham City, where she was converted from an attacking midfielder to a striker. Williams made her senior England debut in July 2009 but had to wait two years for her next appearance, missing out on selection for Women's Euro 2009 and the 2011 Women's World Cup. She was selected in the Great Britain squad for the 2012 London Olympics.

Danielle Hill English footballer

Danielle Marie Hill is a retired English football goalkeeper and currently the goalkeeping coach for the Blackburn Rovers of the FA Women's Championship. She retired in 2020 after a spell with Blackburn Rovers. Hill briefly played for Doncaster Rovers Belles in the FA WSL 2. Born in Liverpool, she began her career with Everton Ladies and had a previous spell with Blackburn Rovers. She also played for ÍBV of the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild and in Norway for Toppserien club Avaldsnes IL. She has represented England up to Under 23 level.

2011 FA WSL First season of the top English womens association football league

The 2011 FA WSL was the inaugural season of the FA WSL, the top-level women's football league of England. The season began on 13 April 2011 and ended on 28 August 2011. The league also took a break between 12 May and mid-July to allow preparation for the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Christie Murray Scottish footballer

Christie Murray is a Scottish footballer who plays as a midfielder or striker and captains Birmingham City in the FA WSL. She has also played for Arsenal, Bristol Academy, and Doncaster Rovers Belles of the FA WSL, as well as Celtic and Glasgow City of the Scottish Women's Premier League. Since making her debut in 2010, Murray has won over 70 caps for the Scotland national team.

Jessica Sigsworth English footballer

Jessica Lucy Sigsworth is an English footballer who plays as a striker for Leicester City in the FA Women's Super League. She previously played for Notts County, Doncaster Rovers Belles and Manchester United, and has represented England at numerous youth levels.

The 2017–18 FA WSL was the seventh edition of the FA WSL since it was formed in 2010. It was the first season of WSL which ran as a winter league. It started in September 2017 and ended in May 2018, with ten teams competing in both leagues.

The FA WSL Spring Series was an interim edition of the FA WSL between the sixth and seventh full seasons. The Spring Series ran from February to May 2017 to bridge the gap from the 2016 FA WSL season which ran from March to September as a summer tournament, and the 2017–18 season which started in September 2017.

The 2017–18 season was Manchester City Women's Football Club's 30th season of competitive football and its fifth season in the FA Women's Super League and at the top level of English women's football.

2018–19 FA WSL Eighth season of the top English womens association football league

The 2018–19 FA WSL was the eighth edition of the FA Women's Super League (WSL) since it was formed in 2010. It was the first season after a rebranding of the four highest levels in English women's football. The previous FA WSL 2 became the Championship – eleven clubs competed in the 2018–19 FA Women's Championship.

The 2019–20 Liverpool F.C. Women season was the club's 31st season of competitive football and its 10th season in the FA Women's Super League, the highest level of the football pyramid, having been one of the league's foundation clubs. Along with competing in the WSL, the club also contested two domestic cup competitions: the FA Cup and the League Cup.

The following is a list of records and statistics of the FA Women's Super League — the highest level of women's football in England — since its inception in 2011. Barring total appearances, all statistics do not include the 2017 FA WSL Spring Series, which bridged the gap between the 2016 and 2017–18 season, featuring only 8 games for each team. Many league record team statistics only cover 22 and 14 game seasons, as they have been featured in the league at least more than once.

The 2016 season was Reading's first season in the FA WSL 1, after winning promotion from the FA WSL 2 in 2015.
