The 2016 Okolo Slovenska (English: Tour of Slovakia) was a six-day cycling stage race that took place in Slovakia in June 2016. The race is the 60th edition of the Okolo Slovenska. It was rated as a 2.2 event as part of the 2016 UCI Europe Tour. The race included five stages+Prologue, starting in Banská Bystrica on 7 June and returning there for the finish on 12 June in Piešťany.

Elkov–Kasper is a UCI Continental road bicycle racing team based in Czech Republic and participates on the UCI Europe Tour. The sponsors of the team are Elkov, an electrical company, and Kasper, a steel manufacturer. The team was one of the best cycling teams before the lifting of the Iron Curtain. The team became professional in 2000. The best known riders for the team were Alois Kaňkovský and Tomáš Bucháček. For the 2008 season the German sprinter André Schulze came from the Wiesenhof team and also Czech cyclist Ondřej Sosenka, a former World Hour Record holder, joined the team.
Maroš Kováč is a Slovak former road bicycle racer, who competed professionally between 2001 and 2017 for the De Nardi–Pasta Montegrappa and Dukla Banská Bystrica teams. He now works as a directeur sportif for UCI Continental team Dukla Banská Bystrica.
