The 2016 Wrestling World Cup - Men's freestyle was The last of a set of three Wrestling World Cups in 2016.

Wrestling World Cup is an international wrestling competition among teams representing member nations of the United World Wrestling (UWW) the sport's global governing body. The championships have been conducted every year since the 1973 tournament. The World Cup began as a dual-meet competition for the top teams on each continent, but now features the top teams in the rankings of the previous year's world championships.

Vladimer Khinchegashvili is a Georgian freestyle wrestler who competes in 55–61 kg categories. He won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics and a gold in 2016. He also won a world title in 2015 and European titles in 2014, 2016 and 2017. In 2015, he was selected as Male Georgian Athlete of the Year by the Georgian Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs.

Also he won bronze at the 2013 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest. At the Golden Grand Prix Ivan Yarygin 2016 he resigned after in the final due to his knee injury. He went on winning the Golden Gran-Prix Baku in 2016. Recently he won the Golden Grand Prix Ivan Yarygin 2018.

Gadzhimurad Gazigandovich Rashidov is a Russian freestyle wrestler of Dargin descent. One of his first achievements came at the Cadet World Champion where he triumphed twice; at the 2011 Cadet World Championships he beat Hassan Yazdani to claim the gold medal. In his early career he also claimed two bronze medals at the Junior World Championships. Two-time World senior championships runner-up and World Cup 2019 winner.

He is bronze medalist of 2010 Russian Freestyle Wrestling Nationals. At 2015 World Wrestling Championships in the second round he lost to World Champion Frank Chamizo (3-4) European Games 2015 ruuner-up, who competed in the men's freestyle 70 kg category at the 2015 European Games and won the silver medal. Golden Grand prix Ivan Yarygin 2010 champion, bronze medalist in 2009 and 2011, European Championships 2010 runner-up, Ramzan Kadyrov Cup 3rd 2010 and World Cup 2011 winner. Gadzhiev competed at Olympics 2016, but he lost to Frank Molinaro in the qualifications.

Chakir Ansari is a Moroccan freestyle wrestler. He is the first Moroccan freestyle wrestler qualified in Olympic Games. He competed in the men's freestyle 57 kg event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in which he was eliminated in the round of 32 by Asadulla Lachinau. He win African title in Marrakech 2017.
