The 2017 FIBA Africa Women's Clubs Champions Cup (23rd edition), was an international basketball tournament that took place at the Pavilhão Multiusos do Kilamba, in Luanda, Angola, from November 11 to 19, 2017. The tournament, organized by FIBA Africa and hosted by Grupo Desportivo Interclube, was contested by 9 teams split into 2 groups, the first four of each group qualifying for the knock-out stage (quarter, semis and final).

The 2016 FIBA Africa Women's Clubs Champions Cup, was an international basketball tournament that took place at the Pavilhão do Maxaquene, in Maputo, Mozambique, from November 25 to December 6, 2015. The tournament, organized by FIBA Africa and hosted by Clube Ferroviário de Maputo, was contested by 10 teams split into 2 groups, the first four of each group qualifying for the knock-out stage.

The 2017 African Women's Handball Champions League was the 39th edition, organized by the African Handball Confederation, under the auspices of the International Handball Federation, the handball sport governing body. The tournament was held from October 21–29, 2017 at the salle Bein Khiar, in Hammamet, Tunisia, contested by 8 teams and won by Clube Desportivo Primeiro de Agosto of Angola.

The 2018 FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup was the 24th edition of the FIBA Africa Basketball Club Championship for Women, the international basketball club tournament of FIBA Africa. The tournament was held in Maputo, Mozambique, from 17 to 25 November 2018.

The 2019 FIBA Africa Basketball League was the 33nd edition of FIBA Africa's premier club Basketball tournament and the 1st under the new format and new name. The season saw an expansion from twelve to sixteen teams.

Clube Ferroviário de Maputo is a women's basketball club based in Maputo, Mozambique. The team competes in the Mozambican League. The team is one of the most decorated teams on the continent, having won the FIBA Africa Women's Clubs Champions Cup two times.

Clube Desportivo Primeiro de Agosto is an Angolan women's basketball team based in Luanda. The team is part of the multi-sports club with the same name. The club is attached to the Angolan Armed Forces which is its main sponsor.
