Submission wrestling, also known as submission grappling or submission fighting, is a combat sport that focus on clinch and ground fighting with the aim of obtaining a submission through the use of submission holds. The term usually refers to a form of competition and training that does not use the gi, the "combat kimono" worn in traditional martial arts. No-gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is the most well known subset of submission wrestling, with the ADCC Submission Fighting World Championship considered its most prestigious tournament.
Houston Harris was an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring name Bobo Brazil. Credited with breaking down barriers of racial segregation in professional wrestling, Harris is considered one of the first successful African-American professional wrestlers.
The Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Pan American Championship, is the largest Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament held in North America. The event is held annually by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
The Campeonato Brasileiro de Jiu-Jitsu, commonly known as Brasileiro, is an annual Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) tournament held in Brazil by the IBJJF. The Pan American Wrestling Championships is the continental wrestling championships for nations from North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. G'Angelo Hancock is an American Greco-Roman wrestler. He won one of the bronze medals in the 97 kg event at the 2021 World Wrestling Championships held in Oslo, Norway. At the 2020 Pan American Wrestling Championships held in Ottawa, Canada, he won the gold medal in the 97 kg event. He is also a silver medalist at the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru. He represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Reineri Andreu Ortega is a Cuban freestyle wrestler. He is a two-time U23 World Champion, two-time Pan American gold medalist and Central American and Caribbean Games gold medalist.
Luisa Elizabeth Valverde Melendres is an Ecuadorian freestyle wrestler. She is a two-time gold medalist at the South American Games. She also won medals at the Pan American Wrestling Championships.
