The 2017 Sioux City Bandits season is the team's seventeenth as the Sioux City Bandits, eighteenth overall and third as a member of Champions Indoor Football (CIF). One of 14 teams in the CIF for the 2017 season, they play in the 7-team North Conference.

The Bandits play their home games at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, under the direction of head coach Erv Strohbeen. The team's offensive coordinator is Jarrod DeGeorgia, the defensive coordinator is John Zevenbergen, and the assistant coaches include Dave Croston and Paul Dacres.

The Sioux Falls Storm are a professional indoor football team based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Storm joined the original Indoor Football League as an expansion team in 1999 as the Sioux Falls Cobras, and first took the field for the 2000 season. They currently participate in another iteration of the Indoor Football League; prior to that, the Storm were in United Indoor Football (UIF), where they won all four of the league's championship games. In the newer IFL, the Storm have won seven of the eleven championships in the league as of 2019.

The 2006 Georgia Bulldogs football team completed the season with a 9–4 record. The Bulldogs had an SEC record of 4–4. Despite losses to unranked Kentucky and Vanderbilt, Georgia salvaged its season by beating two ranked teams in the last two games of the season: #5 Auburn and #15 Georgia Tech. A victory over #14 Virginia Tech in the 2006 Chick-fil-A Bowl gave the Georgia Bulldogs three consecutive victories over top 25 teams. Justin Rodrell Gilbert is an American football cornerback for the Sioux City Bandits of Champions Indoor Football (CIF). He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the eighth pick in the 2014 NFL Draft after playing college football at Oklahoma State. He has also been a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

One of nine teams in the CIF for the 2015 season, the Revolution played their home games at the Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas.

One of nine teams in the CIF for the inaugural 2015 season, the Bandits finished the regular season with a 9–3 record to earn the number one seed in the playoffs, in which they defeated the Amarillo Venom, 83–52 in the semifinals and beat the Texas Revolution in Champions Bowl I, 76–61.

The 2016 Sioux City Bandits season was the team's sixteenth as the Sioux City Bandits, seventeenth overall and second as a member of Champions Indoor Football (CIF). One of 12 teams in the CIF for the 2016 season, they played in the 6-team Northern Division.

The 2017 season was the Los Angeles Rams' 80th in the National Football League (NFL), their 81st overall, their 51st in the Greater Los Angeles Area and their first under head coach Sean McVay. The Rams improved on their 4–12 record from the previous season. With a win over the Arizona Cardinals, the Rams ended a decade-long drought and clinched their first winning season since 2003 and first playoff appearance since 2004, when the club was based in St. Louis. The team played a game in London, England at Twickenham Stadium against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7 as one of the NFL London Games.
