"Land of the Free" is the national anthem of Belize. The words were written by Samuel Alfred Haynes and the music by Selwyn Walford Young in 1963. It was officially adopted in 1981.

Verdes F.C. is a Belizean association football club which competes in the Premier League of Belize. They are currently based in San Ignacio, Belize, a town situated in the district of Cayo, Belize. The club was established in 1976 as Real Verdes Football Club and changed their name to Hankook Verdes in 2004. They are now known only as Verdes F.C, locally being called only Verdes. The club is one of the oldest active professional football teams in Belize and has been in existence since the inception of the Football Federation of Belize. Their home games are played at Norman Broaster Stadium.

The 2010–11 Belize Premier Football League is the highest competitive football league in Belize, which was founded in 1991. There were two seasons, the opening and the closing. In 2011, the Belize Premier Football League withdrew from the Football Federation of Belize and all remaining games were abandoned. Thus no winner was crowned for the closing season.

The 2012 Premier League of Belize was the first season of the highest competitive football league in Belize, after it was founded in 2011. The season commenced on 11 February 2012.

The league commenced in July 2022 and is scheduled to end in mid 2023. The season is divided into two halves, each crowning one champion.
