The People's Justice Party is a reformist political party in Malaysia, formed in 2003 by a merger of the National Justice Party and the older Malaysian People's Party. The party was led by Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and increased its parliamentary representation from one seat to 31 seats in the 2008 general election, until the five-year political ban imposed on former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was lifted on 14 April 2008. The party is the second largest party in the Pakatan Harapan coalition that formed the government after defeating Barisan Nasional, which had ruled the country for 60 years since independence in the 2018 election. It enjoys strong support from urban states such as Selangor, Penang and Johor. It also enjoys huge support from the capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
Abdul Khalid bin Ibrahim is a Malaysian politician who served as the 14th Menteri Besar of the state of Selangor from 2008 to 2014. He was elected to the Selangor State Assembly and the Parliament of Malaysia in 2008 and 2013 as a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), but became an independent in August 2014, coinciding with his resignation as Menteri Besar. He was sacked from the party for his refusal to vacate his Selangor Menteri Besar post.

Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail is a Malaysian politician who served as the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020. He has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kulim-Bandar Baharu since May 2018 and Machang from March 2008 to May 2013 as well as Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Pantai Jerejak since May 2018 and MLA of Kedah for Lunas from November 2000 to March 2004. He is a member and Secretary-General of both the People's Justice Party (PKR) and its coalition PH which is an opposition coalition now.
Datuk Zuraida binti Kamaruddin is a Malaysian politician who has served as Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob since August 2021.She twice served as the Minister of Housing and Local Government in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin from March 2020 to August 2021 and served in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from May 2018 to PH's implosion due to the Sheraton Move in February 2020 for only 1 year, 9 months or, 21 months. She has also been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ampang since March 2008. She has been a member of Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the ruling PN since February 2020 after her resignation from her previous political party, People's Justice Party (PKR) with her key political ally, then-Deputy President of the PKR and the then-Minister of Economic Affairs Mohamed Azmin Ali and several MPs aligned with Azmin in the same month.
A by-election was held for the Selangor State Assembly seat of Kajang on 23 March 2014 following the nomination day on 11 March 2014. The seat was vacated after the incumbent assemblyman, Lee Chin Cheh resigned on 27 January 2014. Lee was an assemblyman from the Parti Keadilan Rakyat, a component party of Pakatan Rakyat. He won by a majority of 6,824 votes against 5 other candidates in the general elections in 2013.
Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar @ Yusre bin Mohd. Akin is a Malaysian politician who served as the Deputy Minister of Primary Industries in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and former Minister Teresa Kok from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020. He has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Hang Tuah Jaya since May 2018 and Bukit Katil from May 2013 to May 2018. He is a member, Spokesperson and was Vice-President of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the PH opposition coalition.
The "Kajang Move" was a political manoeuvre attempted in Malaysia in 2014. The manoeuvre sought to topple the 14th Menteri Besar of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, and install the national opposition leader Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim as his replacement. The move was initiated by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Strategy Director, then Vice President cum Secretary General, Rafizi Ramli. The attempt resulted in a nine-month political crisis within the state of Selangor and the Pakatan Rakyat coalition, that also involved the palace of Selangor. The crisis concluded with the appointment of PKR's Deputy President, Azmin Ali, as the 15th Menteri Besar of Selangor.

Rafizi is also a former Member of Parliament of Malaysia for Pandan in Selangor from 2013 to 2018. Datuk Seri Dr. Edmund Santhara Kumar Ramanaidu is a Malaysian politician, businessman and entrepreneur who has served as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Minister Nancy Shukri since August 2021. He served as Deputy Minister of Federal Territories in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and former Minister Annuar Musa from March 2020 to August 2021 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Segamat since May 2018. He is an associate member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the PN coalition and was a member, National Integration Bureau chairman and Coordinator of Segamat of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) opposition coalition. He resigned from PKR and joined BERSATU in February 2020 as he was aligned with Mohamed Azmin Ali, then-Deputy President of PKR who was against Anwar Ibrahim, the President of PKR. He created a history of becoming the first non-indigenous politician to join BERSATU as an associate member after its party leadership decided to allow non-indigenous people to join the party as the associate members.

Larry Sng Wei Shien, is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Julau since May 2018. He served as Member of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Pelagus from September 2001 to April 2011. He is a member of the Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM). In PBM, he has served as President since January 2022 and served as Deputy President from November 2021 to January 2022. On 28 February 2021, he left PKR to become an independent again and declared support for the ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. Datuk Ali anak Biju is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources for the second term in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Minister Takiyuddin Hassan since August 2021. He served his first term in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and former Minister Shamsul Anuar Nasarah from March 2020 to August 2021. In addition, he also serves as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Saratok and Member of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Krian from April 2011 to December 2021. He was also one of three appointed vice-presidents of the People's Justice Party (PKR) before the Sheraton Move, a successful attempt to overthrow Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration and serves as a member of the Federal-State Relations Select Committee.
The 2020–22 Malaysian political crisis is an ongoing political crisis in Malaysia. It has been caused by Members of Parliament (MPs) changing party support, leading to the loss of parliamentary majority, the collapse of two successive coalition governments and resignation of two Prime Ministers in less than 18 months. In February 2020, developments commonly nicknamed the Sheraton Move saw the ousting of the elected Pakatan Harapan government and the resignation of Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, after 22 months in power. They were replaced with the Perikatan Nasional government under Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin. Political instability continued after this change throughout 2020 and into 2021, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This culminated in the resignation of Muhyiddin and his cabinet in August 2021 after 17 months in power. Ismail Sabri Yaakob was appointed Prime Minister a few days later.
The National Alliance is a political coalition composed of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), Homeland Solidarity Party, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and later Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (GERAKAN). The establishment of this party was induced by the Muhyiddin cabinet on 10 March 2020. This coalition previously preceded by the Malaysian Party Alliance Association or also known as the Persatuan Perikatan Parti Malaysia (PPPM). This party later was legalised and confirmed by Registrar of Society (RoS) as a 'political coalition party' known as Perikatan Nasional (National Alliance). As of 13 August 2021, Perikatan Nasional controls 50 seats, with support of another 4 independent MPs. The coalition was the ruling government of Malaysia from March 2020 to August 2021.
