The 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season began in September 2018 and ended with the 2019 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey tournament's championship game on March 24, 2019.

While a member of the Boston College Eagles, Watts was awarded the 21st Patty Kazmaier Award, becoming the first freshman player to win the award. Watts finished the season with 82 points, which led all competitors in NCAA women's ice hockey.

However, the postseason tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2019–20 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season is the 19th season of competition in the National Collegiate division of NCAA women's ice hockey, the de facto equivalent of Division I in that sport. The season began in September 2019 and ended on March 10, 2020 following the conclusion of the ECAC Championship. The 2020 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey tournament at Agganis Arena in Boston which was supposed to be held March 20 and 22 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Élizabeth Giguère is a Canadian ice hockey player for PWHL New York of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). She played college ice hockey with the Clarkson Golden Knights and the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs, where she was a two-time First Team CCM/AHCA All-American and the winner of the Patty Kazmaier Award in 2020. She previously played for the Boston Pride of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF).

Aerin Frankel is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for PWHL Boston of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) and member of the United States women's national ice hockey team. She was one of the best goaltenders in women's NCAA history. She won the Patty Kazmaier Award in 2021. She is a two-time recipient of the WHCA National Goalie of the Year award and was the inaugural winner in 2021. In 2023, Frankel won gold with the United States women's national ice hockey team at the 2023 IIHF Women's World Championship in Brampton, Ontario.

The Wisconsin Badgers represented the University of Wisconsin in WCHA women's ice hockey during the 2020-21 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. In the WCHA Final Faceoff championship game, the Badgers defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes by a 3–2 mark in overtime, as Lacey Eden scored the game-winning goal. Appearing in the 2021 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament versus the Northeastern Huskies, Daryl Watts scored the game-winning goal in a 2−1 overtime win.

The Bulldogs qualified for the 2021 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament, ranked as the #5 seed. Defeating the Colgate Raiders in the opening round, the Bulldogs were defeated 3-2 by the #1 ranked Northeastern Huskies in the Frozen Four.

The 2020–21 Minnesota Golden Gophers women's ice hockey season was the team's 24th season of play for the program. They represented the University of Minnesota in WCHA women's ice hockey during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. They were coached by Brad Frost in his 14th season. The Golden Gophers did not qualify for the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2007, snapping its streak of 12 consecutive tournament appearances. Among the season highlights, Grace Zumwinkle was recognized as a Second-Team All-America selection.

Caroline "K.K." Harvey is an American college ice hockey defenceman for Wisconsin and member of the United States women's national ice hockey team. She represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Danielle Serdachny is a Canadian ice hockey player and member of Canada women's national ice hockey team. She was drafted second overall by PWHL Ottawa in the 2024 PWHL draft. She played college ice hockey at Colgate.

Gwyneth Philips is an American ice hockey goaltender and member of the United States women's national ice hockey team. She was drafted 14th overall by PWHL Ottawa in the 2024 PWHL draft. She played college ice hockey at Northeastern was named the WHCA National Goalie of the Year in 2023.
