Islamabad United is a franchise cricket team that represents Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan, in the Pakistan Super League. They were the defending champions, as they won the title in 2018 season becoming the most successful PSL team at that time. [3] They were one of the six teams that had a competition in the 2019 season. The team was captained by Pakistani quick bowler Mohammad Sami and by Shadab Khan in three matches after Sami was out injured, they had a good season and finished 3rd, after winning six matches from their twelve matches in the PSL 2019. [4] Cameron Delport and Faheem Ashraf were team's leading runs-scorer and leading wickets-taker respectively. [1] [5]

Season summary

In the opening match of the season, United defeated Lahore Qalandars after chasing down 171 runs in the 20th over, winning the match by 5 wickets. [6] Then they went on to lose their next two games against Multan Sultans by 5 wickets and Quetta Gladiators by 7 wickets, respectively. [7] [8] In the next game against Peshawar Zalmi, Being sent to bat first, the defending champions were 49–3 at one stage before Ian Bell and Cameron Delport put on 56 runs which helped the side post a competitive total of 158 runs for 9 in 20 overs. In the chase of 158 runs, Zalmi were reeling at 65 runs for 5 wickets at one stage. Kieron Pollard and Darren Sammy steadied the side with their 55-runs partnership. Zalmi hopes of winnings were dashed after Pollard departed after scoring 51 runs. In the end, Islamabad managed to win by 12 runs after captain Mohammad Sami's hat-trick in the last over. [9]

Umar Akmal with 335 runs in 7 matches was leading run scorer of the tournament.

The Quetta Gladiators is a franchise cricket team that represents Quetta in the Pakistan Super League. They are one of the five teams that had a competition in the 2016 Pakistan Super League. The team was captained by Sarfraz Ahmed, and they stand on second position after winning four matches from their eight matches in the PSL 2016. They finished runners-up after losing the final against Islamabad United. Ahmed Shehzad with 290 runs from 10 matches was team's leading run scorer while Mohammad Nawaz with 13 wickets from 10 matches was the leading wicket taker for the team. They won runners-up prize money of US$200,000.

The Quetta Gladiators is a franchise cricket team that represents Quetta in Pakistan Super League. It was one of the six teams that competed in the 2020 season. Quetta Gladiators have previously lifted the PSL title for the first time in 2019, which makes them defending champion in 2020.

The Multan Sultans is a franchise cricket team which represents the city of Multan in southern Punjab in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The team made its PSL debut in 2018 season. The team is coached by Andy Flower, and remain under the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan. The Sultans have previously lifted their maiden PSL title in 2021, making them the defending champions in 2022.

The 2024 Pakistan Super League final was a Twenty20 cricket match played between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United to decide the champion of the 2024 season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on 18 March 2024 at the National Stadium in Karachi, Pakistan.
