The 2006 KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships took place in Heerenveen at the Thialf ice rink on 27–30 December 2005. Although this tournament was held in 2005 it was the 2006 edition as it was part of the 2005–2006 speed skating season.
The Dutch Single Distance Championships of speed skating, organised by the KNSB, is the official Dutch championship to determine the Dutch champion over a single distance, in contrast to the KNSB Dutch Allround Championships, which determine the Dutch allround champion. The single distance championships date back to 1987, and is often used as qualification races for World Cup and Olympic races. The skaters compete for medals in the five Olympic distances: 500, 1000, 1500, 3000, 5000 and 10,000 metres.
The 2009 KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships was held from Friday 31 October until Sunday 2 November 2008 at the Thialf ice stadium in Heerenveen. Although the championships were held in 2008 it was the 2009 edition as it is part of the 2008–2009 speed skating season.
