The 2019 Natinonale 1 season was the season of the Nationale 1, the premier basketball league in Senegal.
AS Douanes won its ninth national title on 21 October 2019, beating DUC Dakar in the final. [2] AS Douanes qualified for the 2020 BAL season.

The Nationale 1 Masculin is the highest professional basketball league in Senegal. Established in 1971, the league consists of 16 teams.
Thierno Ibrahima Niang is a Senegalese basketball player who plays for Jeanne d'Arc of the NM1. He played college basketball with the Milwaukee Panthers men's basketball team, although a nagging back injury reduced his role from impact starter to reserve. Niang also competes at international events with the Senegal national team. He played the sport in high school at Bridgton Academy and went on to represent Triton College in Illinois.
Ibrahima Thomas is a Senegalese professional basketball player for AS Douanes. He previously also played for the Senegal national basketball team. Thomas played college basketball for Oklahoma State before transferring to Cincinnati as a sophomore.
Marcus Christopher Crawford is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for Al Ittihad Alexandria of the Egyptian Basketball Premier League. He played college basketball for the University of Memphis. Crawford has an extensive career with teams in Europe and Africa. He guided AS Douanes to the 2023 BAL Final, and was named to the All-BAL First Team the same year.
The Dakar Arena is an indoor arena that is located in Diamniadio, Senegal. Built between 2016 and 2018, it is primarily used for basketball games, and it is the home arena of the Senegal national basketball team and the Senegal women's national basketball team. The arena has a seating capacity of 15,000 people.
The 2021 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 1, was the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Established as a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and FIBA, the BAL is the highest tier continental league of Africa, replacing the FIBA Africa Basketball League. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the BAL held its inaugural season one year later as planned, with the season beginning in 2021. Initially the league planned to play in six venues in six countries; however, due to the pandemic the season was held in a bio-secure bubble in Kigali, Rwanda. The season began on 16 May 2021 and ended on 30 May 2021.

The playoffs were played in the BK Arena in Kigali, which hosted the final stage for a third season in a row. The regular season was played in Dakar, Senega and Cairo, Egypt, both venues hosted a conference for a second year in a row.

Jean Jacques Boissy is a Senegalese basketball player who last played for AS Douanes and the Senegal national team. Playing at point guard, he is a graduate of the NBA Academy Africa and has played professionally since 2021. Boissy was an All-BAL First Team selection in 2023.
