Ashley Weinhold and Caitlin Whoriskey were the defending champions, however both players chose to participate with different partners. Weinhold played alongside Naomi Broady, but lost in the first round to Desirae Krawczyk and Giuliana Olmos. Whoriskey partnered Jacqueline Cako, but they were defeated in the first round by Julia Boserup and Lesley Kerkhove.
Kaitlyn Christian and Giuliana Olmos were the defending champions, but Christian chose not to participate. Olmos partnered alongside Kristie Ahn, but lost in the semifinals to Asia Muhammad and Maria Sanchez.

Ashleigh Barty was the defending champion from when the tournament was last held in 2019, and she successfully defended her title after Bianca Andreescu retired from the final with the scoreline at 6–3, 4–0. Barty saved a match point in the second round against Kristína Kučová en route to the title. The victory earned Barty her first successful title defense in her singles career and made her the sixth woman to accomplish a title defense at the Miami Open.
Hsieh Su-wei and Barbora Strýcová were the defending champions Strýcová retired from professional tennis in May 2021., while Hsieh played alongside Elise Mertens, but lost in the second round to Sharon Fichman and Giuliana Olmos.
Elina Svitolina was the defending champion but chose not to participate.
Defending champion Hsieh Su-wei and her partner, Elise Mertens, defeated Veronika Kudermetova and Elena Vesnina in the final, 3–6, 7–5, 9–7, to win the ladies' doubles tennis title at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The pair saved two championship points in the final en route to winning their first major together.
Bianca Andreescu was the defending champion from when the event was last held in 2019, but lost in the third round to Ons Jabeur.
Paula Badosa defeated Victoria Azarenka in the final, 7–6(7–5), 2–6, 7–6(7–2), to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2021 Indian Wells Masters. At three hours and four minutes, the final was the longest women's final contested at Indian Wells. By winning the title, Badosa became the first Spanish woman to win the tournament. This was her first WTA 1000 title and her second career WTA singles title overall. Azarenka was aiming to become the first woman to win the title at Indian Wells three times.

Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens won the title, defeating Lyudmyla Kichenok and Jeļena Ostapenko in the final, 6–1, 6–3. Ostapenko was aiming to become the first woman to win both the singles and doubles titles in the same edition of the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula won the title, defeating Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens in the final, 3–6, 7–5, [10–5].
Gabriela Dabrowski and Giuliana Olmos defeated Desirae Krawczyk and Demi Schuurs in the final, 7–6(7–1), 5–7, [10–7] to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2022 Madrid Open. This was Dabrowski's third consecutive final at the tournament, having lost the previous two editions in 2021 and 2019.
Veronika Kudermetova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova defeated reigning champion Giuliana Olmos and partner Gabriela Dabrowski in the final, 1–6, 6–4, [10–7] to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2022 Italian Open.
Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic defeated Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula in the final, 2–6, 6–3, 6–2 to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2022 French Open. It was their second French Open title as a team.
