The 2019 QBL season was the 34th and last season of competition since its establishment in 1979. A total of 30 teams contested the league (15 men and 15 women teams). The regular season was played between 6 April and 3 August 2019, followed by a post-season involving the top eight of each gender in August 2019. The schedule was announced on 22 February 2019. [1] The Brisbane Capitals won their second men's QBL title, whilst the Southern Districts Spartans successfully defended their women's QBL title. The Gold Coast Rollers reached both grand finals, however were unable to win either.
It was announced on October 30 that the 2019 QBL season was the last QBL season to be played, with the league merging with NBL1 for the 2020 season. [2]

The 2019 Queensland Basketball League Finals were played between 10 and 31 August 2019, consisting of two best-of-three semi-final and final series, where the higher seed hosted the first and third games. The Brisbane Capitals won the men's finals, and the Southern Districts Spartans won the women's finals.

NBL1 North, formerly the Queensland Basketball League (QBL), is a semi-professional basketball league in Queensland and Northern Territory, Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2020, Basketball Queensland partnered with the National Basketball League (NBL) to bring NBL1 to Queensland. NBL1 replaced the former QBL to create more professional pathways and opportunities for males and females playing basketball in Queensland. As a result, the QBL became the north conference of NBL1. In 2022, the league will expanded into the Northern Territory with a club from Darwin.
Dusty Mike Rychart is an Australian-American professional basketball player for the Brisbane Capitals of the Queensland Basketball League (QBL).
Adam Matthew Gibson is an Australian professional basketball player for the Knox Raiders of the NBL1 South. He made his National Basketball League (NBL) debut in 2005, and has played for five NBL franchises. He is a two-time NBL champion, having won his first in 2007, with the Brisbane Bullets and his second in 2009, with the South Dragons. He is also a five-time All-NBL Team member and was crowned the NBL Best Defensive Player in 2009.
Brad Williamson is an Australian professional basketball player who is most known for his time spent in the National Basketball League (NBL) playing for the Brisbane Bullets and Townsville Crocodiles. In 2007, he won an NBL Championship with the Bullets.
Christopher James Goulding is an Australian professional basketball player for Melbourne United of the National Basketball League (NBL). He made his debut in the NBL in 2006 as a development player with the Brisbane Bullets, going on to play for the Perth Wildcats and Gold Coast Blaze, before settling in Melbourne. In the NBL, Goulding is a three-time championship winner and a two-time All-NBL First Team honouree. He also won the league's scoring title in 2014 and claimed Grand Final MVP honours in 2018. Goulding is a regular with the Australian Boomers, but he also holds a British passport thanks to his father, which allowed him to play as a local in Spain and Italy between 2014 and 2016.
La Charles Rashawn "C. J." Massingale is an American-Australian professional basketball player for the Southern Districts Spartans of the NBL1 North. He played three years of college basketball for Washington and one year for Metro State. He moved to Australia in 2005, where he has since played his entire career. He played nine seasons for the Knox Raiders in the SEABL. He had a short stint with the Adelaide 36ers of the NBL in 2012 before playing in Queensland since 2014.
Rhys Martin is an Australian professional basketball player who last played for the Gold Coast Rollers of the Queensland Basketball League (QBL). He is most well known for his 10 seasons in the National Basketball League (NBL) with the Illawarra Hawks.
Jason Robert Cadee is an Australian professional basketball player for the Brisbane Bullets of the National Basketball League (NBL). He is also the team captain for the Bullets.
Logan Thunder is a NBL1 North club based in Logan, Queensland. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 North. The club is a division of Logan Basketball Inc., the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. The Thunder play their home games at Cornubia Park Sports Centre.
Christopher Cedar is an Australian professional basketball player for the Southern Districts Spartans of the NBL1 North. He previously played six seasons for the Townsville Crocodiles in the National Basketball League between 2007 and 2013. He returned to the Crocodiles for a short stint in 2016. Cedar is also a long-time QBL veteran, having played for the Townsville Heat, Rockhampton Rockets and Mackay Meteors. He won QBL championships in 2014 and 2015. In 2020, he played for the Logan Thunder in the Queensland State League (QSL). In 2021, he won the inaugural NBL1 North championship with Mackay.
USC Rip City is a NBL1 North club based in Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 North. The club is a division of the University of the Sunshine Coast Basketball Association (USCBA), one of two major administrative basketball organisations in the region, the other being Sunshine Coast Basketball Association. The Rip play their home games at USC Stadium.
Gold Coast Rollers is a NBL1 North club based in Gold Coast, Queensland. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 North. The club is a division of Gold Coast City Regional Basketball Association, the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. The Rollers play their home games at Carrara Indoor Stadium.
Gladstone Port City Power is a Queensland State League (QSL) basketball club based in Gladstone, Queensland. The club fields a team in both the Men's QSL and Women's QSL in the 2021 competition. The club is a division of Gladstone Amateur Basketball Association (GABA), the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. The Power play their home games at Kev Broome Stadium.
