The 2019 Seniors Masters was a senior snooker tournament, that took place on 11 April 2019 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England. It was the fourth event on the 2018/2019 World Seniors Tour. [1] [2]

Contents

A qualifying tournament took place from 8 to 10 March at the Northern Snooker Center in Leeds. [3] Barry Pinches won 3–1 in the final against Aaron Canavan. [4]

Despite losing in the final of the qualifying tournament the reigning World Seniors Champion Aaron Canavan was assigned a place in the tournament following a withdrawal.

Cliff Thorburn won the 2018 edition, beating Johnathan Bagley 2–1 in the final. [5] However, he lost 0–2 to Stephen Hendry in the first round of this year's edition.

1986 world champion Joe Johnson won the event, beating Barry Pinches 2–1 in the final. [6]

Snooker Legends

The Snooker Legends was created in 2009 by Jason Francis at Premier Stage Productions to stage events for retired and current snooker players to play exhibition matches once again in some of Snooker's most iconic venues. In 2017, Snooker Legends created the World Seniors Tour for players aged 40 and above. This tour consisted of four events in the 2017/2018 season.

The 2017 World Seniors Championship was an invitational senior snooker tournament, that took place at the Baths Hall in Scunthorpe, England, from 22 to 24 March 2017. Qualifying for the tournament was open to non-tour players, who were aged 40 and over on 1 January 2017.

2017–18 snooker season

The 2017–18 snooker season was a series of professional snooker tournaments played between 4 May 2017 and 7 May 2018. The season began with the pro–am Vienna Snooker Open in May 2017 and ended with the 2018 World Snooker Championship in April the following year. Ronnie O'Sullivan earned a joint-record five ranking titles in the season. He joined Stephen Hendry (1990/1991), Ding Junhui (2013/2014), and Mark Selby (2016/2017) in winning five ranking titles in the same season.

The 2019 Seniors 6-Red World Championship was a winner-takes-all seniors six-red snooker tournament, that took place on 3 March 2019 at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was the third event on the 2018/2019 World Seniors Tour and the first edition of this tournament.
