Parliamentary elections were scheduled to be held in Somaliland on 27 March 2019, alongside local elections. However they were postponed by the Electoral Commission, without a new date being set did not indicate a new date. The elections had previously been postponed several times, with the last elections held in 2005. [1] In August 2019 the National Electoral Commission postponed the election again, until at least 2020. [2]

Elections in Somaliland

Somaliland elects on national level a head of state and a legislature. The president is elected by the people for a five-year term. The Parliament (Baarlamaanka) has two chambers. The House of Representatives will have 82 members, elected for a five-year term. The House of Elders will have 82 members, representing traditional leaders. Somaliland has a multi-party system, with numerous parties in which no one party often has a chance of gaining power alone, and parties must work with each other to form coalition governments.

There have never been national elections in Eritrea since independence in 1993. In theory, elections select representatives from the country's six regions for the National Assembly. Elections would also occur to elect representatives for the country's regional assemblies and other posts within the country's districts. 2003 Somaliland presidential election

Presidential elections in Somaliland, an autonomous region of Somalia, were held on 14 April 2003. Results showed that president Dahir Riyale Kahin won by the slightest of margins. The outcome was initially rejected by the main opposition which led to some violence in the country, spurring Somaliland to ban public protests for a 10-day period on April 22. Nevertheless, the International Crisis Group labeled the election a democratic "milestone" for the breakaway state. On 11 May 2003, the Somaliland Supreme Court endorsed Kahin's victory. On 16 May 2003, Kahin was sworn in as Somaliland's first democratically elected President.

2013 Guinean legislative election

Legislative elections were held in Guinea on 28 September 2013 after numerous delays and postponements. President Alpha Condé's party, the Rally of the Guinean People (RPG), won a plurality of seats in the National Assembly of Guinea, with 53 out of 114 seats. The opposition parties won a total of 53 seats, and opposition leaders denounced the official results as fraudulent.

2010 Somaliland presidential election

A presidential election was held on 26 June 2010 in the Republic of Somaliland, a self-declared country that is internationally recognised as an autonomous region of Somalia. The election was originally scheduled for August 2008, but was marred by numerous delays, seriously endangering political stability in the country. On 1 July 2010, the Somaliland National Election Commission announced that opposition candidate Ahmed M. Mahamoud Silanyo had won the presidential election, defeating incumbent President Dahir Riyale Kahin.

Kaipara is a former New Zealand parliamentary electorate north of Auckland that existed from 1902 to 1946, and from 1978 to 1996.

2011 Central African general election

General elections were held in the Central African Republic on 23 January 2011 to elect the President and National Assembly, having been postponed numerous times. Incumbent President François Bozizé was re-elected for a second term in the first round of voting, receiving 66% of the vote. The organization of the elections was plagued by difficulties, and the opposition repeatedly demanded its postponement. Ultimately it was delayed until January 2011, requiring an extension of the terms of both the President and the National Assembly.

2013 Malagasy general election

Presidential and parliamentary elections were held in Madagascar on 20 December 2013, following a first round of presidential elections on 25 October. The presidential elections in December were a runoff between Jean Louis Robinson and Hery Rajaonarimampianina, the top two candidates to emerge from the first round of voting in October. The official results of the second round were announced on 7 January 2014 with Rajaonarimampianina proclaimed the victor with nearly 54% of the vote.

2010 Afghan parliamentary election

The Afghan parliamentary election, 2010 to elect members of the House of the People took place on 18 September 2010. The Afghan Independent Election Commission - established in accordance with the article 156 of the Constitution of Afghanistan for the purpose of organizing and supervising all elections in the country - postponed the poll from its original date of 22 May to September 18.

2017 Somaliland presidential election

Presidential elections were held in Somaliland on 13 November 2017, the third direct presidential election since 2003. General elections had been scheduled to be held in Somaliland on 27 March 2017 to elect both the President and House of Representatives, but were initially postponed by six months due to the drought condition in the region. The elections to elect the President and Vice President were eventually held separately on 13 November. Incumbent President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud of the Peace, Unity, and Development Party (Kulmiye) did not run for a second term.

2015–16 Haitian parliamentary election

2018 Afghan parliamentary election

Parliamentary elections were held in Afghanistan on Saturday 20 October 2018 to elect members of the House of the People. They had originally been scheduled for 15 October 2016, but were initially postponed to 7 July 2018, and then again to 20 October. Much of the prelude to the elections focused on the debate over reforming the country's electoral laws. The current system is one of single non-transferable vote. Kandahar's election was held on October 27. The new Parliament was later inaugurated on April 26, 2019.

The next general election in the United Kingdom is scheduled to be held on 5 May 2022 under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011, five years after the previous general election in 2017. The election may be held at an earlier date in the event of an early election motion being passed by a super-majority of two-thirds in the House of Commons, or a vote of no confidence in the government which is not followed by a vote of confidence within 14 days.

2019 Guinean legislative election

Parliamentary elections were scheduled to be held in Guinea in January 2019, but were postponed indefinitely. In May the Electoral Commission announced that the elections will be held between late November and early December.

Next Australian federal election Election for the 47th Parliament of Australia

The next Australian federal election will be held in or before 2022 to elect members of the 47th Parliament of Australia. All 151 seats in the House of Representatives and 40 of the 76 seats in the Senate will be up for election. The incumbent Coalition Government, led by Scott Morrison will be seeking a fourth three-year term against the opposition Labor Party, led by Anthony Albanese.
