The international tournament included competition in both men's and women's freestyle wrestling. The tournament was held in honor of the two time Olympic Champion, Yaşar Doğu.

Yaşar Doğu was a Turkish wrestler. He competed in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, winning gold at the Olympic, world, and European championships.
Taha Akgül is an Olympic, World, and European champion Turkish freestyle wrestler competing in the 125 kg division. He is a 3 time world and 11 time European champion. He won the gold medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics and the bronze medal in the 2020 Summer Olympics at 125 kg. He has been the president of the Athlete Commission of the Turkish National Olympic Committee since 2016. He is a graduate of the Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University Physical Education and Sports Academy and completed his master's degree at Sivas Cumhuriyet University.
