Takashi Kawamura is a Japanese politician who has served as a member of the House of Representatives representing Aichi 1st since October 2024, a position he had previously held from 1993 to 2009. Prior to this, he served as the 35th mayor of Nagoya from 2009 to 2024. Kawamura is the current Deputy Leader of the far-right Conservative Party of Japan, as well as the founder and leader of the Nagoya-based regional party Genzei Nippon.

Aichi 6th district is a constituency of the House of Representatives in the Diet of Japan. It is located in Aichi and consists of the cities of Seto and Kasugai. The cities are just north of Nagoya and a part of the Chūkyō Metropolitan Area. Before the 2022 redistricting, the 6th consisted of Kasugai, Inuyama and Komaki. As of 2012, 420,807 eligible voters were registered in the district.

In the first phase on April 10, 2011, 12 governors, 41 prefectural assemblies as well as five mayors and 15 assemblies in cities designated by government ordinance were elected. In the second phase on April 24, 2011, mayors and assemblies in hundreds of cities, "special wards" of Tokyo, towns, and villages were up for election. The Aichi Prefectural Assembly is the legislative assembly of Aichi Prefecture.

Genzei Nippon is a regional political party based in Nagoya, Japan and led by the mayor of Nagoya, Takashi Kawamura. The party was formed by Kawamura in April 2010. After briefly holding several seats in the national legislature, the party merged at the national level with the Tomorrow Party of Japan in November 2012 before the party's dissolution in May 2013. Genzei Nippon remained a separate party at the regional level and has been active within Aichi Prefecture. As well as Kawamura, the party has thirteen members serving on the Nagoya city Assembly and three members serving on the Aichi Prefectural Assembly.

The 2023 Osaka mayoral election was held on 9 April 2023 as part of the 20th unified local elections to elect the next mayor of Osaka. Incumbent mayor Ichiro Matsui decided not to seek a second term as mayor of Osaka, opting to retire from politics at the end of his term. The election resulted in a landslide victory for Hideyuki Yokoyama, the candidate from the Osaka Restoration Association, who secured 64% of the vote. Taeko Kitano, who was supported by the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito received 26% of the vote.

The 2016 Kyoto mayoral election was held on February 7, 2016. Incumbent mayor Daisaku Kadokawa ran for a third term, opposed by Independent and JCP politician Kumiko Honda and Independent Takashi Mikami. The total votes in the election were 398,988, a slight decrease in turnout compared to 2012. Kadokawa won by a wide margin compared to his 2012 election.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2020 Kyoto mayoral election</span>

The 2020 Kyoto mayoral election was held on February 2, 2020. Incumbent mayor Daisaku Kadokawa ran for a forth term, against JCP-backed independent Kazuto Fukuyama and former Kyoto Party Independent Shōei Murayama. Kadokawa won by a margin of nearly ten points, making him one of the longest serving mayors of Kyoto.

The 2023 Hiroshima Mayoral Election was held on April 9th, 2023, to elect the new mayor of Hiroshima. It was held as part of the 2023 Japanese unified local elections. The election saw incumbent mayor Kazumi Matsui winning a landslide victory for re-election. His majority of 80% of the vote was followed by Atsumi Takami, a member of the Japanese Communist Party, with 11.3% of the vote.

The 2023 Shizuoka Mayoral Election was held on April 9, 2023, to elect the new mayor of Shizuoka. It was held as part of the 2023 Japanese unified local elections. The election saw newcomer candidate Takashi Namba, emerging victorious. Despite three major candidates running, Namba secured 57.99% of the vote.

Shinji Ishimaru is a Japanese politician who has served as Mayor of Akitakata from 2020 until his resignation in 2024. Ishimaru obtained national prominence as mayor in 2022 after a video of him scolding members of the city council for sleeping during a meeting went viral on social media, with the video gaining 13 million views on YouTube. Ever since then, he has gained a large internet following, especially on Twitter with his vocal political opinions and by documenting his frequent clashes with local political opponents.

Takashi Takai is a Japanese politician and former bureaucrat who currently serves as a member of the House of Representatives for the Kita-Kantō PR block. He formerly served on two other occasions in the House of Representatives. He currently serves as Secretary-General of Reiwa Shinsengumi, and has twice previously been elected to the House of Representatives. Having previously been a member of the CDP, he was expelled in 2020 after having been found to have broken COVID-19 rules by visiting a sex parlor.
