The 2021 Southern Conference softball tournament was held at the UNCG Softball Stadium on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Greensboro, North Carolina, from May 13 through May 15, 2021. The tournament was won by the UNC Greensboro Spartans, who earned the Southern Conference's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division I softball tournament [1]

Greensboro is a city in and the county seat of Guilford County, North Carolina, United States. At the 2020 census, its population was 299,035; it was estimated to be 301,115 in 2022. It is the third-most populous city in North Carolina after Charlotte and Raleigh and the 69th-most populous city in the United States. The population of the Greensboro-High Point, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area was estimated to be 789,842 in 2023. The Piedmont Triad region, of which Greensboro is the most populous city, had an estimated population of 1,736,099 in 2023.

Professionally, Miller played for London Capital of the British Basketball League. He was previously head coach at UNC Greensboro, and served stints as an assistant coach at Elon University and High Point University.

The 1982 AIAW women's college slow-pitch softball championship was held in Graham, North Carolina, near Raleigh, on May 13–15. Twelve college softball teams met in the second and last AIAW national slow-pitch softball tournament. The AIAW conducted only two slow-pitch softball national championships, in 1981 and 1982, as the NCAA sought to and eventually did vanquish the women's collegiate athletic organization. The Amateur Softball Association later held two collegiate slow-pitch championship tournaments in 1983 and 1984.
The 2021–22 UNC Greensboro Spartans men's basketball team represented the University of North Carolina at Greensboro during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Spartans, led by first-year head coach Mike Jones, played their home games at the Greensboro Coliseum and Fleming Gymnasium in Greensboro, North Carolina as members of the Southern Conference (SoCon). They finished the season 17–14, 9–9 in SoCon play to finish in a tie for fifth place. As the No. 6 seed in the SoCon tournament, they lost to Samford in the quarterfinals. Guard De'Monte Buckingham was named to the Southern Conference Sports Media Association third team. They accepted an invitation to play in the 2022 College Basketball Invitational tournament where, as a No. 7 seed, they lost to No. 10-seeded Boston University in the first round.

James L. Dickey III is an American basketball player for Alba Fehérvár of the Nemzeti Bajnokság I/A. He plays the power forward and center positions. He played college basketball for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with whom he was the 2017–18 Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year. During his college career he led the Southern Conference once in rebounds, and twice in blocked shots.
