It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, master's, specialist, and doctoral degrees.
UNCG Soccer Stadium is a 3,540-capacity stadium located in Greensboro, North Carolina. The stadium is home to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro Spartans men's and women's soccer teams. It has also hosted the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship on several occasions. The stadium opened for soccer in 1991. For the championship games, extra bleachers were brought in to expand the capacity to 10,583 people.
Francis John McCaffery is an American college basketball coach and the current men's basketball head coach at the University of Iowa. He has taken four Division I programs to postseason tournaments, including the Iowa Hawkeyes, who reached the final of the 2013 National Invitation Tournament.
Warren Weston Miller is an American basketball coach and former player, who is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Cincinnati. Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, he played at the collegiate level for James Madison University and the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, where he graduated in 2007. Professionally, Miller played for London Capital of the British Basketball League. He was previously head coach at UNC Greensboro, and served stints as an assistant coach at Elon University and High Point University.

The team plays its home games at UNCG Soccer Stadium in Greensboro. The UNCG Spartans have a three pronged coaching system run by head coach Chris Rich (2019) and assistant coaches Garrett McLaughlin (2018) and Jaime Ibarra (2019).

They were invited to the College Basketball Invitational where they defeated Houston Baptist in the first round before losing in the quarterfinals to Ohio.

The Spartans, led by sixth-year head coach Wes Miller, played their home games at the Greensboro Coliseum, with two home games at Fleming Gymnasium, as members of the Southern Conference. They finished the season 25–10, 14–4 in SoCon play to finish in a three-way tie for the SoCon regular season championship. As the No. 1 seed in the SoCon tournament, they defeated The Citadel and Wofford to advance to the championship game where they lost to East Tennessee State. As a conference champion and No. 1 seed in their conference tournament who failed to win their conference tournament, they received an automatic bid to the National Invitation Tournament where they lost in the first round to Syracuse.

They finished the season 27–8, 15–3 in SoCon play, and were the SoCon regular season champions. They defeated The Citadel, Wofford, and East Tennessee State to become champions of the SoCon tournament. They received the SoCon's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where they lost in the first round to Gonzaga.

The Spartans finished the season 29–7, 15–3 in SoCon play, and were the SoCon regular season runners-up. They defeated Samford and Furman before falling to regular season champion Wofford in the title game of the SoCon Tournament. They received an at-large bid to the National Invitation Tournament where they beat Campbell in the first round before losing to eventual tournament runners-up Lipscomb.

They are members of the Southern Conference (SoCon). They finished the season 23–9, 13–5 in SoCon play to finish in third place. They lost in the quarterfinals of SoCon tournament to Chattanooga. Although being a good postseason candidate with 23 wins, all postseason tournaments were cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

They received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament where they lost in the Round of 64 to Florida State.

They finished the season 17–14, 9–9 in SoCon play to finish in a tie for fifth place. As the No. 6 seed in the SoCon tournament, they lost to Samford in the quarterfinals. Guard De'Monte Buckingham was named to the Southern Conference Sports Media Association third team. They accepted an invitation to play in the 2022 College Basketball Invitational tournament where, as a No. 7 seed, they lost to No. 10-seeded Boston University in the first round.
Lynne Agee is a retired women's college basketball coach. Agee started her coaching career with William Fleming High School, where she had 94 wins and 16 losses from 1971 to 1978. With the Roanoke Lady Maroons from 1978 to 1981, Agee had 46 wins and 23 losses. Her team also made it to the first round of the 1981 AIAW women's basketball tournament for Division III. With the UNC Greensboro Spartans women's basketball team from 1981 to 2011, Agee was the university's coach in Division III, Division II and Division I basketball.
James L. Dickey III is an American basketball player for Alba Fehérvár of the Nemzeti Bajnokság I/A. He plays the power forward and center positions. He played college basketball for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with whom he was the 2017–18 Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year. During his college career he led the Southern Conference once in rebounds, and twice in blocked shots.

The tournament was held at campus sites, with the higher seed hosting. The seven-team single-elimination tournament consisted of four rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The UNC Greensboro Spartans were the defending champions but were unable to defend their crown, losing 2–1 in the Semifinals to the Belmont Bruins. The Mercer Bears were the tournament champions, defeating Belmont 4–3 in the final. This was the fourth Southern Conference tournament title for the Mercer men's soccer program, all four of which have come under coach Brad Ruzzo. As tournament champions, Mercer earned the Southern Conference's automatic berth into the 2021 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament.

The tournament was held at campus sites, with the higher seed hosting. The seven-team single-elimination tournament consisted of four rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The Mercer Bears were the defending champions but were unable to defend their crown, as they lost in the final to the UNC Greensboro Spartans, 2–1. This was the fourth Southern Conference tournament title for the UNC Greensboro men's soccer program, and second under coach Chris Rich. UNC Greensboro also has two tournament titles that were later vacated. As tournament champions, UNC Greensboro earned the Southern Conference's automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament.
