The 2021 United States Olympic Curling Trials was held from November 12 to 21, 2021 at the Baxter Arena in Omaha, Nebraska. [1] The trials featured six men's teams and six women's teams who played in a double round robin tournament. [2] After the round robin, the top two teams on each side played a best-of-three playoff to determine the winner. [3] The winner of both the men's and women's events will represent the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. [4]

Qualification

As both John Shuster and Tabitha Peterson finished within the top six teams at the 2021 World Men's Curling Championship and the 2021 World Women's Curling Championship respectively, the United States earned an automatic berth into the 2022 Winter Olympics in the men's and women's events. [5] [6]

Through double round-robin tournaments the trials determined which men's and women's teams would represent the United States at the 2002 Winter Olympics, also in Ogden. Tim Somerville's team won the men's side; his third time at the Olympics, first time for third Mike Schneeberger, and second time for Myles Brundidge and John Gordon. Kari Erickson and her team of Debbie McCormick, Stacey Liapis, and Ann Swisshelm won the women's side, their only loss coming after they had already clinched the Olympics berth. This was the first Olympics for Erickson and her sister Liapis and second for McCormick and Swisshelm.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2021 World Men's Curling Championship</span>

The 2021 World Men's Curling Championship was held from April 2 to 11 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Canada. The event was originally to be held in Ottawa, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the championship was moved to Calgary. The event was held in a bio-secure bubble at Canada Olympic Park, which also hosted all major Curling Canada championships leading up to the Worlds. All events were held behind closed doors with no spectators.

The 2021 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials were held from November 20 to 28 at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The winners of the men's and women's events represented Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

The 2021 Korean Curling Championships, Korea's national curling championships, were held from June 23 to July 3 at the Gangneung Curling Centre in Gangneung, South Korea. The winning teams on both the men's and women's sides became the Korean National Teams for the 2021–22 curling season. They represented Korea at the 2021 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships, 2022 World Women's Curling Championship, 2022 World Men's Curling Championship and the Olympic Qualification Event in attempts to reach the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. The championship was held in two rounds.

The 2021 Canadian Olympic Curling Pre-Trials were held from October 25 to 31 at the Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool, Nova Scotia. The event qualified two teams for the 2021 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The 2021 United States mixed doubles curling Olympic trials were held from October 26 to 31, 2021, at Curl Mesabi in Eveleth, Minnesota. The trials featured ten teams played in a round robin tournament. After the round robin, the top four teams qualified for the page playoff. The winner of this event will represent the United States at the Olympic Qualification Event in hopes of reaching the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China.

The Olympic qualification event is an international curling tournament that was held from 5–18 December 2021 in Leeuwarden, Netherlands.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 World Men's Curling Championship</span> Curling tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada, US

The 2022 World Men's Curling Championship was held from April 2 to April 10 at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, United States. Team Sweden, skipped by Niklas Edin, was the defending championship team. The 2022 WMCC trialed the no-tick rule for the first time at a men's tournament at this level.

The 2022 Scottish Men's and Women's Curling Championships were held from February 21 to 27 at the Dumfries Ice Bowl in Dumfries, Scotland. Both the men's and women's events were played in a double round robin which qualified four teams for a page playoff.
