The 2022 Great Lakes Valley Conference football season was the season of college football contested by the seven football-playing member schools of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) as part of the 2022 NCAA Division II football season. [1]
Indianapolis compiled a 9–1 record, won the GLVC championship, and was ranked No. 13 in the final regular season NCAA Division II poll. The Greyhounds lost to Pittsburg State in the first round of the NCAA Division II playoffs. Truman State compiled a 8-2 record and was ranked No. 23 in the final regular season poll. The Bulldogs defeated Tiffin in the third America's Crossroads Bowl. [2] Indianapolis led the conference in scoring offense with an average of 35.8 points per game. Truman State led in scoring defense, giving up an average of 18.6 points per game. [3]
Senior quarterback Turner Pullen of McKendree tallied 3,541 passing yards and was selected as the GLVC Offensive Player of the Year. Senior linebacker Ben Straatmann of Missouri S&T was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year. Toriano Clinton of Indianapolis led the conference with 1,001 rushing yards, and Yogi Flagler Jr. of McKendree led with 1,144 receiving yards. [3]

The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level, headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. Its fourteen member institutions, of which all but one are public schools, are located in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. The MIAA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in Missouri.

There are also four associate members who participate in sports not sponsored by their home conference.
McKendree University (McK), formerly McKendree College, is a private university in Lebanon, Illinois. Founded in 1828 as the Lebanon Seminary, it is the oldest college or university in Illinois. The school was renamed McKendree University beginning in the 2007–08 academic year. McKendree enrolls approximately 1,960 students representing 25 countries and 29 states. In the undergraduate program, on average there are 51% females and 49% males. The institution remains affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
The Great Lakes Football Conference (GLFC) was a football-only conference that competed in NCAA Division II for six seasons. Bill Massoels, Athletic Director at St. Joseph's College, served as its commissioner, and the league was headquartered at the college in Rensselaer, Indiana. St. Joseph's was also the catalyst of a previous failed attempt to form a conference of the same name in the late 1990s.

Royce Waltman was an American college basketball coach, best known for his time as head coach at Indiana State University from 1997 to 2007. Previously, he coached the University of Indianapolis from 1992 to 1997 and DePauw University from 1987 to 1992. He returned to coach Indianapolis for the 2007–8 season, before retiring.

Prior to this, Truman was in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association from 1924 to 2012. TSU's home games are played at Stokes Stadium in Kirksville, Missouri.

In 2014, the Bearcats as well as the Lincoln Blue Tigers began competing in the GLVC as a football member-only team.

In 2014, Southwest Baptist became a football-only member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference and remains a football-only member through the 2018–19 school year, after which it will become a full GLVC member. Prior to this SBU was in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association from 1988 to 2007 and 2012 to 2013, the rest of the athletic programs are in the MIAA. SBU's home games are played at Plaster Stadium in Bolivar, Missouri.
The Quincy Hawks are the athletic teams that represent Quincy University, located in Quincy, Illinois, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Hawks, members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) since 1994, compete in that league in all but three sports. Men's volleyball plays in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association through the 2025 season, after which the GLVC will begin sponsoring that sport. Since there is no men's volleyball at the Division II level, the men's volleyball team is the only program that plays at the Division I level. Sprint football, a weight-restricted form of American football governed outside the NCAA structure, competes in the Midwest Sprint Football League. Men's bowling is also governed outside of the NCAA ; QU competes as an independent.

The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) women's basketball tournament is the annual women's basketball championship tournament for the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The tournament was established in 1998, twenty years after the conference was founded in 1978. It is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records.

The America's Crossroads Bowl is an annual American NCAA Division II college football bowl game held at Hammond Central High School Stadium in Hammond, Indiana. The game originated as a partnership between the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority, and the city of Hobart, Indiana. From 2019 through 2022, the game was played at Brickyard Stadium in Hobart, roughly 20 miles (32 km) east of its current location.
Trent J. Edwards II is an American football quarterback for the Frisco Fighters of the Indoor Football League (IFL). He played college football for Southwest Baptist and the University of Indianapolis. Edwards has had a lot of success in indoor football leagues, winning the IFL Most Valuable Player in 2023.
