The 2022 Men's Hockey Asia Cup was the eleventh edition of the Men's Hockey Asia Cup, a quadrennial international men's field hockey championship in Asia organized by the Asian Hockey Federation. The tournament took place at the GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta, Indonesia, from May 23 to June 1, 2022.^[1]

Qualification

Qualification for the tournament was determined based on previous performance. The top five teams from the previous Asia Cup, the host, and the two finalists from the 2022 AHF Cup were eligible for competition.

The Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2018 was held at Muscat, Oman between October 18–28, 2018. It was the fifth edition of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, a field hockey tournament for the six best Asian national teams. This was announced by the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) on 29 January 2018. The Oman Hockey Association hosted the tournament.

South Korea participated in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. It was the 18th appearance of the country at the Asian Games, except the first edition in Delhi. As one of the best competitors at the Games, South Korea's best achievement was in the 2002 Busan, with the acquisition of 96 gold, 80 silver and 84 bronze medals. At the latest edition in 2014 Incheon, the country had collected 79 gold, 71 silver, and 84 bronze medals.
