He was the first goalkeeper to become captain of an international hockey team and was awarded the Arjuna award and the Padma Shri by the Indian government. He was captain of the Indian team which won the gold in the 1966 Asian Games. After missing the selection for the 1968 Olympics, Lakshman quit hockey. He remained with the Army, retiring in 1979 as a captain of the Maratha Light Infantry. He died in 2006 after suffering gangrene in one leg in Mhow.
Shahid Ali Khan is a retired field hockey goalkeeper from Pakistan, who won the gold medal with the Men's National Team at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and later became the Pakistan's goal keeping coach.

In September 2022, he became President of Hockey India. On 22 March 2012, he was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha as one of the three Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidates to the Upper House of Indian Parliament. Previously, Dilip Tirkey was working as chairman of Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC), now he is working as the chairman of Odisha Hockey Promotion Council. In September 2022, he was elected unopposed to the position of the president of Hockey India. He is the first ever international hockey player to become President of Hockey India Dilip Tirkey Sports Research Development Foundation short and abbreviated as DTSRD is an initiative of Padma Shri Dilip Tirkey. DTSRD has its registered office in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Dibakar Parichha serves as the Secretary-General of DTSRD while Prime Abhilas is the Managing Director of DTSRD. Ali Iqtidar Shah Dara was an Indian and later Pakistani field hockey player and the longest-serving hockey manager who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics and the 1948 Summer Olympics.
Nasir Ali is a Pakistani field hockey player. He played at fullback position. He was a player in the National hockey team from 1981 to 1988 where he played 150 matches for his country and scored 19 goals. He was also the former captain of Pakistan national hockey team.

Arshad Ali Chaudhry was an international field hockey player from Pakistan. He is son of Chaudhry Sadique Salar, the nephew of Chaudhry Ghulam Rasool, and cousin of Akhtar Rasool. Chaudhry was born in Faisalabad District of Punjab, Pakistan. He earned his B.A. from Government College Faislabad where he was also the captain of college hockey team. He got an M.A. in history from Punjab University, Lahore in 1973. In 1975 he was selected Assistant Manager in PIA.
Sandeep Singh is an Indian professional field hockey player from Haryana and an ex-captain of the Indian national hockey team. He generally features as a full back and is a penalty corner specialist for the team. He has been dubbed "Flicker Singh" in the media for his specialization of the drag-flick, one of the fastest in the world.
Abdul Hamid Hamidi was a field hockey player from Pakistan. He was born in Bannu. He scored 48 International goals in just 55 appearances for Pakistan. He won silver medal in 1956 Summer Olympics and gold medal in 1960 Summer Olympics.
Salman Akbar is a Pakistani field hockey player and coach. He is a former captain and goalkeeper of the Pakistan Men's Hockey Team. A veteran of 230 games, he has represented Pakistan in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics. He lives in Holland now.
Muhammad Nadeem Ahmed is a retired Pakistani field hockey player. He represented Pakistan in two editions of the Olympic Games, and he has served as a full-fledged member and single-time captain of the national field hockey team throughout his sporting career.
The 2004 Indo-Pak series was the 7th series of bilateral field hockey matches between Pakistan and India. The series was played over eight matches on home and away basis.
Pakistan competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games at Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August 2022. It was Pakistan's 14th appearance at the Commonwealth Games.
