The 2022 North Dakota State Bison baseball team represented North Dakota State University during the 2022 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Bison played their home games at Newman Outdoor Field adjacent to NDSU's campus. The team was coached by Tyler Oakes in his 1st season as head coach at NDSU. Oakes had been associated with NDSU Baseball since December 2013. [2] The Bison claimed their first Summit League Regular season title during the season, winning every conference series played.
The Bison entered the Summit League tournament as the No. 1 overall seed. They lost to Omaha to start the tournament, then beat South Dakota State to advance to the semifinals, before falling to Omaha yet again to be eliminated from the tournament. NDSU finished the season with a 31-19 record and a 17-5 record in the Summit League, the second of which is their best for the program since entering Division I.

Previous season

The Bison finished last season 42-19 and 20-11 in Summit League play. [3] This led them to the Summit League tournament where they won; beating Omaha [4] and Oral Roberts [5] to advance to their second NCAA tournament berth since entering Division I. It was their first conference tournament title since 2014. NDSU entered the NCAA tournament as the four seed in the Stanford Regional. [6] The Bison lost to number 7 overall seed Stanford [7] before winning their first NCAA Division I Tournament game against regional three seed Nevada. [8] NDSU was eliminated from the tournament when they lost to number 17 overall seed UC Irvine. [9]

The Bison, led by fifth-year head coach David Richman, played their home games at the Scheels Center in Fargo, North Dakota as members of the Summit League. They finished the season 19–16, 9–7 in Summit League play to finish in a tie for third place. As the No. 4 seed in the Summit League tournament, they defeated Oral Roberts, Western Illinois, and Omaha to win the tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 16 seed in the East region. There the Bison lost to overall No. 1 seed Duke.

The program began its first season in 1965 under head coach Collette Folstad. The current Bison head coach is Jennifer Lopez in her 6th season. Lopez took over after former coach Kari Thompson resigned after the 2016 season.

The 2019–20 North Dakota State Bison men's basketball team represented North Dakota State University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bison, led by sixth-year head coach David Richman, played their home games at the Scheels Center in Fargo, North Dakota as members of the Summit League. They finished the season 25–8, 13–3 in Summit League play to finish in a tie for the Summit League regular season championship. They defeated Denver, Oral Roberts, and North Dakota to become champions of the 2020 Summit League tournament. They earned the Summit League's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, however, the tournament was cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tyler Oakes is an American college baseball coach, head coach of the NCAA Division I Summit League's North Dakota State Bison. He was the pitching coach, recruiting coordinator and associate head coach at North Dakota State from 2014 to 2021. Prior to North Dakota State, Oakes was an assistant for South Dakota State and Minnesota.

The Bison play their home games at Newman Outdoor Field adjacent to NDSU's campus. The team was coached by Tod Brown in his 14th season at NDSU. The Bison won the Summit League tournament for the second time since entering Division 1 and first time since the 2014 season. After entering the NCAA tournament the Bison went 1-2 and were eliminated after being defeated by No. 7 overall Stanford and No. 17 overall UC Irvine. They defeated Nevada for the team's first ever NCAA Division I Tournament game win.

The Bison clinched the second seed in the Summit League tournament, the highest mark in a conference tournament since their Division II days.

In the NCAA tournament the Bison fell to 9th ranked Texas A&M in penalties. This was the program's first NCAA tournament appearance since entering Division I.
