The 2022 Vienna Vikings season is the inaugural season of the newly formed Vienna Vikings team in the second season of the European League of Football.
After being introduced as one of the 2022 expansion teams, the Vikings announced on October 19, 2021 to continue with Chris Calaycay as a head coach. [1] In November, the Vikings held their first ELF Combine on November 6, 2021 and there after signed the first player with Luis Horvath. [2] The first notable acquisition is the signing of former Clemson Tigers wide receiver Diondre Overton. [3] He then was drafted for the 2022 USFL season by the Philadelphia Stars (2022). [4]
On February 12, 2022 the management of the Vienna Vikings announced that they will play all their home games of this season in one of the most modern stadiums of the league with the Generali Arena Vienna. [5] Before the season, the team had a combined training camp and a friendly scrimmage with the Leipzig Kings. [6]

The Vienna Vikings is a professional American football club based in Vienna, Austria. Founded in 1983, the Vikings are known as one of Europe's most dominant clubs, having won the Eurobowl title five times, as well being the runner-up five times. In the national championship the Vikings are holding the record of 15 Austrian Bowl victories. Since the 2022 season they are member of the European League of Football and under the name Dacia Vienna Vikings they are also still part of the Austrian Football League (AFL).

The league consists of 17 teams located in Germany, Poland, Spain, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, Czech Republic and France, with plans to expand to 24 teams in 2025.
