It was the first time Colombia hosted the World Weightlifting Championships.

The women's 55 kilograms competition at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships was held on 7 December 2022.

The women's 59 kilograms competition at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships was held on 7 and 8 December 2022.

The men's 67 kilograms competition at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships was held on 8 and 9 December 2022.

The women's 71 kilograms competition at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships was held on 11 and 12 December 2022.

The 2023 World Weightlifting Championships is an upcoming weightlifting competition scheduled to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in September 2023.
