The 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards were held on October 3, 2023, as the 17th installment of the BET Hip Hop Awards, intended to recognize the best in hip hop music of 2023. [1] The ceremony was taped in Atlanta, Georgia on October 3, and broadcast on BET the following week on October 10. [2] [3] The awards were hosted by Fat Joe.

The nominations were announced on September 7, 2023; Cardi B and 21 Savage both led with twelve each, followed by Drake with nine. [4] Kendrick Lamar won the most awards at the ceremony, with four. Swizz Beatz and Timbaland were recognized with the Cultural Influence Award, and Marley Marl was honored with the I Am Hip Hop award. [5] [6]

Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, known professionally as 21 Savage, is a British-born rapper based in Atlanta, Georgia. Born in London and raised in Atlanta, he began his recording career in 2013 and released three independent mixtapes to regional acclaim. His breakout project—the collaborative extended play (EP) with record producer Metro Boomin titled Savage Mode (2016)—peaked at number 23 on the Billboard 200. Its lead singles, "X" and "No Heart" both peaked within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. Later that year, he saw further recognition for his guest appearance on Drake's single "Sneakin'". He then signed a recording contract with Epic Records in January 2017.

Anyways, Life's Great is the second EP by American rapper GloRilla. It was released on November 11, 2022, through Collective Music Group (CMG) and Interscope Records. It later peaked at number 11 on the US Billboard 200 and was nominated for Album of the Year at the BET Awards. The bonus edition was released on March 15, 2023 with four new songs. Francis Leblanc, known professionally as Fridayy, is a Haitian-American singer, songwriter, and record producer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2022, he signed with Def Jam Recordings and guest performed on the hit songs "Forever" by Lil Baby and the title track of DJ Khaled's album God Did (2022). Both songs peaked within the top 20 of the US Billboard Hot 100, while the latter earned him three Grammy Award nominations. His 2023 single, "When It Comes to You", marked his first entry on the chart as a lead artist.

"Put It on da Floor" is a song by American rapper Latto from her third studio album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea (2024). It was released on April 21, 2023, through Streamcut and RCA Records as the album's lead single. It was produced by Go Grizzly, Squat Beatz, Pooh Beatz and DJ Prince. An official remix of the song featuring American rapper Cardi B titled "Put It on da Floor Again" was released on June 2, 2023, which was also included on the album. Although the single initially did not chart, the remix debuted at number 13 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards was held on October 15, 2024, as the 18th installment of the BET Hip Hop Awards, to recognize the best in hip hop music of 2024. The ceremony was taped in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 8, and broadcast on BET the following week on October 15. The awards was hosted by Fat Joe.
