The 2023 Iowa Western Reivers football team was an American football team that represented Iowa Western Community College as a member of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) during the 2023 junior college football season. Led by 14th-year head coach Scott Strohmeier, the Reivers compiled a 12–1 record, defeated East Mississippi in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) championship game, and won the NJCAA National Football Championship. It was Iowa Western's second consecutive national championship. [1] [2]
The team's statistical leaders included Hunter Watson with 1,904 passing yards, Jonathan Humpal with 808 rushing yards, LJ Fitzpatrick with 345 receiving yards, and Max Bartachek with 70 points scored (46 extra points, eight field goals). [3]

Iowa Western Community College is a public community college in Council Bluffs, Iowa. It was founded in 1966 and offers 84 programs in both vocational and technical areas as well as in liberal arts. It is also home to a flight school.
Iowa Speedway is a 7⁄8 mile (1.4 km) oval short track in Newton, Iowa. Since its inaugural season of racing in 2006, the track has hosted a variety of racing events, including events sanctioned by NASCAR and IndyCar. The facility has been owned by NASCAR since 2019, with Eric Peterson currently serving as the track's president. Iowa Speedway is served by Interstate 80.
Fred Russell is a former American football player. He played college football as a running back at the University of Iowa. He twice rushed for more than 1,000 yards in a season, was a first-team running back on the 2002 All-Big Ten Conference football team, and was selected as the most valuable player in the 2004 Outback Bowl.

The 1956 Iowa Hawkeyes football team was an American football team that represented the University of Iowa in the 1956 Big Ten Conference football season. The Hawkeyes were champions of the Big Ten Conference and beat the Oregon State Beavers in the 1957 Rose Bowl, a rematch of a regular season game.
The 1943 Iowa State Cyclones football team represented Iowa State College of Agricultural and Mechanic Arts in the Big Six Conference during the 1943 college football season. In their second year under head coach Mike Michalske, the Cyclones compiled a 4–4 record, finished in third place in the conference, and outscored their opponents by a combined total of 147 to 104. They played their home games at Clyde Williams Field in Ames, Iowa. The Cyclones moved their kickoff times from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for the 1943 season.
The 1946 Iowa State Teachers Panthers football team represented Iowa State Teachers College in the North Central Conference (NCC) during the 1946 college football season. In its ninth season under head coach Clyde Starbeck, the team compiled a 4–1–2 record, shut out it final four opponents, won the NCC championship, and outscored opponent by a total of 175 to 32.

The team played its home games at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

The 2014 East Mississippi Lions football team was an American football team that represented East Mississippi Community College as a member of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) during the 2014 junior college football season. Led by seventh-year head coach Buddy Stephens, the Lions compiled a perfect 12–0 record, shut out five consecutive opponents, defeated Iowa Western in the national championship game, and won the NJCAA National Football Championship. It was one of five national championships for East Mississippi, along with the 2011, 2013, 2018, and 2021 teams.

Scott Strohmeier is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach for Iowa Western Community College, a position he has held since the program's inception in 2008. He was the head football coach for North Iowa Area Community College from 2005 to 2007. He also coached for Concordia–St. Paul and Truman. He played college football for Fergus Falls and Minnesota Crookston as a quarterback.
The 2022 junior college football season was the season of intercollegiate junior college football running from September to December 2022. The season ended with three national champions: two from the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) Division I and Division III and one from the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).
The 1973 Buena Vista Beavers football team was an American football team that represented Buena Vista College as a member of the Iowa Conference during the 1973 NAIA Division II football season. In their fourth year under head coach Jim Hershberger, the Beavers compiled an 8–1 record, won the Iowa Conference championship, and outscored opponents by a total of 208 to 106. The team's only loss was to the eventual NAIA Division II national champion Northwestern Red Raiders. It was Buena Vista's first outright conference championship since 1952.
