Mayar Sherif Ahmed Abdel-Aziz is an Egyptian professional tennis player. She has career-high WTA rankings of No. 31 in singles - making her the highest ranked Egyptian player in the Open Era - and No. 88 in doubles. Sherif has won one singles title on the WTA Tour and one in doubles. She has also won a record six WTA 125 singles titles and one doubles title on the WTA Challenger Tour along with nine singles titles and six doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. She is the younger sister of Rana Sherif Ahmed.

This is the first edition of the tournament.

Polona Hercog defeated Iga Świątek in the final, 6–3, 3–6, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2019 Ladies Lugano Open. It was Świątek's first WTA Tour final.

Wang Qiang was the defending champion, but lost in the first round to Peng Shuai.

The 2021 Karlsruhe Open was a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the 2nd edition of the tournament and part of the 2021 WTA 125K series, offering a total of $115,000 in prize money. It took place in Karlsruhe, Germany between 7 and 12 September 2021. The tournament did not take place in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Viktorija Golubic was the defending champion, but chose not to participate.

Sára Bejlek was the defending champion and successfully defended her title, defeating Lina Gjorcheska in the final, 6–2, 7–6(7–0).

This is the first edition of the event as a WTA 125 tournament. It was part of the ITF Women's Circuit from 2016 to 2018. Viktória Kužmová was the champion when the event was last held in 2018, but lost in the first round of qualifying to Amarissa Kiara Tóth.

Mayar Sherif defeated Maria Sakkari in the final, 7–5, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Emilia-Romagna Open. It was her maiden WTA Tour title, and Sherif became the first Egyptian to win a WTA Tour singles title.

Aryna Sabalenka defeated Linda Nosková in the final, 6–3, 7–6(7–4) to win her 11th WTA Tour singles title. She did not drop a set during the tournament. Nosková reached her first WTA Tour final after saving a match point in the first qualifying round against Anna Kalinskaya, and a further match point in the quarterfinals against Victoria Azarenka.

Barbora Krejčíková defeated Iga Świątek in the final, 6–4, 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Dubai Tennis Championships. It was her first WTA 1000 title. In addition to world No. 1 Świątek, Krejčíková also defeated No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka and No. 3 Jessica Pegula, becoming the fifth woman to defeat the top three ranked players in a single tournament, and the third to do so outside of the WTA Finals. Krejčíková also saved four match points en route to the title, in the second round against Daria Kasatkina.

The 2023 Makarska International Championships, also known as Makarska Open hosted by Valamar, was a professional women's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the seventeenth edition of the tournament and part of the 2023 WTA 125 tournaments. The event took place from 6 to 11 June 2023 at the Tennis Center in Makarska, Croatia.

Mayar Sherif won the title, defeating Marina Bassols Ribera 6–3, 6–3 in the final.

Zheng Qinwen defeated Jasmine Paolini in the final, 6–4, 1–6, 6–1 to win the singles tennis title at the 2023 Internazionali Femminili di Palermo. It was Zheng's first WTA Tour singles title, and she was the first Chinese player to win the singles title at Palermo.

Arantxa Rus defeated Noma Noha Akugue in the final, 6–0, 7–6(7–3) to win the women's singles title at the 2023 Hamburg European Open. It was her first WTA Tour title. Rus, at 32 years of age, became the oldest first-time WTA champion in the last 40 years. She was playing in her 126th tour-level main-draw. It was Noha Akugue's first WTA Tour main draw singles appearance. The final was the first between two left-handed players since the 2018 Prague Open.

Defending champion Elise Mertens defeated Jasmine Paolini in the final, 6–3, 6–0 to win the singles tennis title at the 2023 Jasmin Open.

Katie Volynets defeated defending champion Mayar Sherif, 3–6, 6–2, 6–1, to win the singles title at the 2024 Makarska International Championships.

Ann Li won the title, defeating Viktoriya Tomova in the final, 6–3, 6–4.

Anna Bondár won the women's singles title at the 2024 Hamburg Open, defeating defending champion Arantxa Rus in the final, 6–4, 6–2.
